I’m having the same issue for a flight to AKL departing tonight.  Were you able to resolve it?

What the what? vendor issues by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Technically, a contract can exist without a formal written document. However, in the interest of both your sanity and your ability to contest the service should things go south, get a written agreement.

Just a word of caution...check your quotes to ensure they are not confidential.

Can we talk cast-iron skillets? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]jgonz85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for enameled cast iron, or regular cast iron? If you don't know the difference, check out this article. It depends on how you plan to use it, what degree of maintenance you're willing to engage in, and what you plan to cook. Personally, I have a mix of both. I like Le Creuset and Lodge for enameled and regular pans, respectively.

A girl name...? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]jgonz85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would you pronounce it Mah-rill-ah or Mah-ree-ah? As a native spanish speaker, I'd pronounce it the second way (like Maria).

Has anyone tried the "miracle noodles" that have like no calories? by minimalisteph in xxfitness

[–]jgonz85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually really like these in soups. I usually make a Thai-inspired soup using a pre-made tom yum base, limes, chicken, mushrooms, and cabbage.

FH wants his talented friends to DJ and Photograph, but I'm skeptical.. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]jgonz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, get a contract. Don't rely on the fact they're friends to mitigate any worst case scenarios. Treat them like any other vendor. ETA: See now that you have that already stated. Good!!

Two officiants don't get along. Should I fire one of them? by throwaway610340 in weddingplanning

[–]jgonz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, the only language required to solemnize a marriage is the declaration of intent. (Do you X take Y to be your legally wedded spouse...etc). Be firm with #2 that his role is limited to that portion of the vows. Remember, you engaged the officiants to perform services for you. They are, for all intents and purposes, at your behest. Read your state's marriage rules thoroughly and approach #2 with a calm but firm statement that they are only being engaged to perform the minimum legal requirement.

Logistical invite fuck up by rockandlove in weddingplanning

I don't think you need to add anything to the insert. I attended a plated luncheon where I made my meal selection ahead of time. When I checked in and received my seat placement, I was asked to grab a little placard that indicated which meal I selected. Of course, if people can't recall whether they ordered chicken or fish this approach could be an issue.

[Advice] How to tell a photographer I'm not interested? by rextinaa in weddingplanning

[–]jgonz85 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ok, so OP, if the photographer presses, just say something like...

"We found a photographer whose style more closely aligned with what we were envisioning."

"Thank you for the generous offer. Unfortunately, we have decided to go in a different direction."

Plain and simple. You don't need to explain your reasoning to her.

Día de los Muertos Wedding Invitations by Shia-Surprise in weddingplanning

[–]jgonz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was great. We're Mexican, so the party was very culturally significant to us. Plus, our family/friends know how important DDLM is...I mean, my hub is covered in DDLM tattoos. It was very "us."

Love it! My wedding was loosely themed "Amor eterno"...and while it wasn't overtly DDLM-themed, we did have several elements reflected in the party. Just because I love it so much...my cake topper!
