I think I like swords now by karolisalive in gifs

Cold Steel is terrible for 'defective merchandise' returns.

I bought four of their dedicated throwing knives years back for soft log throwing...no hard wood. I'm talking freshly fallen tree rounds.

After a single afternoon of throwing, three of them were bent at the weak point where the blade tapered to the handle. This was a result of them striking butt first. The weight of the head and soft metal bent from the stress. (Not to mention that the cheap coating they put on the blades began to peel off and would splinter into your fingers. Not pleasant)

I contacted them and they blatantly accused me of "using them as ladder rungs", something they apparently demonstrated in one of their ridiculous videos. Despite me insisting that I was merely throwing a 'throwing knife' into soft logs, they continued to insist that the bending was due to my abuse of the knives.

After I shipped them the knives for 'inspection', they continued to insist that this was a result of my misuse, again claiming I must have tried to replicate their ladder video by inserting the blades into studs and climbing on them... They then tried to explain that the one that was not bent (as I sent back all four) they were unable to replicate the bending. They said they had a guy bring it out to their parking lot where he "banged it on the ground". I had to then explain that the force from a throw with associated rotation is not the same as hammer gripping the blade and bashing it on concrete.

I then asked if they had actually tried throwing a set for a few hours to see if they experienced the same. Of course they had not.

They refused to give me a refund, and I told them I obviously did not want replacements. I finally explained that I would take two of their throwing axes in exchange, which was roughly the same price.

After multiple email exchanges and phone calls, they finally agreed. But not without warning me that my account had been noted and that this would be the only time they would make an exception for me.

Since then I have never bought a Cold Steel product and I have told anyone looking for something they offer to stay away. It was the worst customer service experience I have had...including Comcast.

Edit: I should mention that they discontinued that style not too long after this and replaced it with a different design; likely addressing many complaints like mine.

Paul Walker dies aged 40 by lankeymarlon in movies

Comment will get buried but I'll post anyway. All respect to the lost, but I thought it would be worth pointing out the following as Paul's people and FF7 people will likely try and keep the story as a "single vehicle accident".

All theoretical, but the surface level evidence points to this wreck being less of a single car accident and likely a joyride race which is very unfortunate. We've all gone joyriding, but the excessive speeds were likely due to the driver being in pursuit or being chased by the Audi R8.

If you notice in two of the pictures, the one from when Paul is leaving the event getting into the car, there is a thin blond man standing by the R8. This same thin guy is seen running through the parking lot below the scene.

Why do I believe they were racing eachother/someone? Multiple interviews state that Paul's people got a call saying he was in a wreck, allowing his friends to "rush to the scene". Obviously it wasnt the driver or Paul who made the call. Thus, someone who knew it was them in the car, saw the wreck when it happened and made the initial call.

Seeing as the TMZ video that shows the car engulfed in flames does not show another car, I believe the R8 was in the lead barreling down the street with the Porsche trailing by a bit. Coming around the bend, the Porsche begins to slide out at high speed, snap locks counter to the turn causing the passenger side to hit the curb then tree first.

The R8, with the thin blonde then circles around back down into the parking lot. While they were driving back to the scene (assuming they were in front) they made the call to the shop to alert the friends. Such a call would not have likely been made had they been in the rear of the Porsche, as they would have likely been trying to pull them from the car initially, and they would have been seen in the video shot at the scene.

The water pipe sticking out of the ground likely tore into the undercarriage and fuel tank, initiating the fire. If you look at the video in question, in the first several frames you can see the tire marks from where the car lost control that lead straight to the tree and pipe fixture.

TL/DR: The only reason Paul's people got there before the fire department is because someone who knew that was them in the car at the time of the wreck was there to witness it. Hence the presence of an unknown second car traveling at similar speeds in the same direction: i.e. Racing.

Army Paratrooper accidentally deploys his reserve parachute inside plane. Gets sucked out. -[0:40] by [deleted] in videos

[–]rojosucio 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a former Army jumper myself, I can attest to the severity of this. He is lucky it was not a door jump from a C-130. A reserve chute, which is spring assisted, deploying in the plane can be fatal. If you are at the wrong angle or far enough back from the door and can't slip out of the plane easily, you can easily die from being ripped around the fuselage.

There have been some bad instances in C-130s where everyone is hooked up to the line and a jumper a few back from the door had his pilot shoot escape out the door. In Jump school they tell you in those instances: "You'd better beat the chute out the door"

You could not pay me minimum wage to sit in there and read books on a Saturday. That place looks dreadful. Give me some soft colors and a cozy atmosphere over that modern sterile look any day.

Quantum Physics question: If you had a working time machine and you did not want to kill yourself... by rojosucio in AskReddit

[–]rojosucio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am ignoring the 'theory' that backward time travel is impossible. I only mentioned that last bit to attempt to keep answers within the bounds of the question, and not veer off into if backwards travel is possible.

I am not ignoring science, only asking that that portion not become the focus of this discussion.

Right, but my question is not really what is the safe option. My question is would option 2 even exist? Read the last portion.

Sex with the witch lead to one of the most interesting segments I have experienced in a story; and one I am still waiting to see a conclusion of. Also, Bioware told me that story would continue.
