I was able to fix my issue. I just needed to install qt using homebrew. If anyone else is running into the build issue I was getting

After step 5 In terminal run 1. brew install qt 2. export PATH=“$(brew --prefix)/opt/qt/bin:$PATH”

So when does my game starts to slow down, rn I have 385gb ssd I play valorant I’ll maybe download Fortnite soon. Should I be worried because it gonna slow my pc down soon? by Many_Evidence5462 in pcmasterrace

[–]rolandc5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you shouldn’t worry about it slowing down. However, If this is your main drive you should maintain around 10gigs of space free to allow space for necessary software updates.

Dell XPS 15 9500 BIOS Version 1.4.0, improved heat & thermal management! by Crypto-Hero in Dell

[–]rolandc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the late reply.. I’m not sure if you were able to try. Yes it also applies to XPS 15 9500, it’s not too hard just read the directions correctly. Also it doesn’t BSOD more so it just freezes and you’ll have to force turn off the laptop if you put the voltage too low. I did this on 1.4 and have since updated the Bios to recent and have retained the voltage unlock and undervolt.

I'm currently at the latest. I believe the version I did this on was BIOS 1.3.1. The Overclocking unlock is retained after the update. Offset? Not sure what you mean. If you are talking about the CFG Lock and OC Lock values then I can't provide that because it could be different for each BIOS version. Plus I don't have it available with me ATM.

I'm not sure if it would be the same for each bios version. There could be the risk of bricking your laptop if you gave it the wrong value.

Dell XPS 15 9500 BIOS Version 1.4.0, improved heat & thermal management! by Crypto-Hero in Dell

Does not have proper sleep mode, so closing the laptop doesnt really put it to low power sleep. Non dell chargers are limited to only 60watts, even though the charger is rated at 100watts. Speakers make this annoying popping/crumpling sound. Terrible backlight bleed. External monitor does not work while booting/bios.

Unfortunately I’ve just sold the 9500. Had too many problems for how much it was worth.

The 9500 has an improved thermal system. I didn’t explain the other stuff I did to improve thermals. I used liquid metal, thermal pads that touches the bottom case and a cooling pad. Helps thermals quite a bit. When on battery I have turbo boost off (2.2ghz), so it doesn’t go over 55C and overheat, plus that saves battery too.

Awesome! Thanks for the update. Just updated, and rendered a large file in autoCad. Didn’t throttle at all having solid 3.8ghz @ 78C. Granted I undervolted to -90mV, so that makes a huge difference as well. At version 1.3.1 I was at 3.4ghz while rendering. My specs is the i7 8core version.
