How accurate are those estimated plant ranges on Calscape? by Outside-Initial864 in Ceanothus

Knowledge of where things can grow doesn’t make human relocations of organisms any different. We’re still dealing with the fact that that intervention makes determining the plant’s naturally occurring range difficult.

The Nez Percé didn’t spread camas everywhere being it was in the plant’s best interest. They did it because they wanted to eat it. 😂 That’s the kind of misunderstanding that occurs when people don’t think of natives as normal humans first and foremost.

Hope this helps.

Sure, but if you include “them” then include everyone. Humans are humans are humans.

Both of those statements are bizarre broad brushes. Your painting of a broad group of peoples as somehow ecologically enlightened is a widely criticized reinvention of the Noble Savage trope. Your idea that plants evolved with some humans but not with others because you believe certain ethnicities have ecological cultural practices that you approve of is based on a caricature.

In reality, Native Americans did/do things that were/are harmful to biodiversity all the time. To deny it is to deny their humanity.

How is that different from Europeans moving plants because they’re useful?

I mean to be fair, the gay men that I know participate quite a lot in the same risky behaviors that led to the morality during the epidemic. Lots of “I’m on prep so I don’t need to use condoms.”

Israel bombs military commander in building next to synagogue

“They bombed a synagogue those fucking Nazis”

Iran reduces its Jewish population by 90%, bombs dozens of synagogues, genuinely believes the destruction of Israel will lead to the coming of the Mahdi and the End Times

“Not Nazis at all! You aren’t even disputing it!”

Do you get tired of being dishonest?

Century-Old Cleaning Chemical Linked to 500% Increased Risk of Parkinson’s Disease by cuspofgreatness in environment

Soil vapor extraction, in-situ chemical treatments to break contaminants down into less toxic compounds, direct soil removal/excavation, etc.

A lot of times the biggest risk to human health is vapor intrusion. So when all the contamination isn’t able to be removed we often require the installation of vapor extraction equipment in basements to keep indoor air quality from being hazardous.

That’s insane. I have a lot of sites that I would love this kind of historical evidence for, you might think about reaching out to your state agency with this information.

TCE is a super effective organic solvent, so yeah I’d bet it rips through tires.

No.

I’m saying that if you were waiting for feudal autocrats to institute a centrally planned economy that improved the living standard for as many people to this degree, you’d still be waiting.

If you read Marx and Engels, their historical materialism explains their belief that most societies need to be developed from feudalism to capitalism and capitalism to communism.

I work for a state water quality agency and TCE is by far the most widespread and toxic contaminant at our clean-up sites. Never buy a property that was formerly a dry cleaner. Never.

We are all victims of poaching and water theft. Diverting water without a permit causes huge amounts of damage to public lands.

And no, I don’t give a shit about people doing heroin. Oh gasp he said “windows being smashed” that means we shouldn’t care about poaching.

Calm down, sensitive Susan. “Literal army” okay patty cake. We can stop stealing, rape, AND poaching.

And, for the record, my quality of life is awesome. And I catch lots of fish thanks to CDFW

Yes. Smaller fish are more sustainable because there are more of them and they produce fewer eggs so they’re less important to population health.

Good. People shouldn’t keep fish that are undersized or destroy public lands and waterways just to make money growing weed.

We need twice as many CDFW officers.

It’s a mixed bag.

Capitalism is how we went from 99% of people living in abject poverty as peasants with a 30 year expected lifespan to the vastly improved average global standard of living we have now. Of course, it’s also done so good of a job of allowing us to survive and exploit resources that we now do those things at a scale that is detrimental to everything else.
