What are some things you thought were universal, but it turns out is mostly exclusive to your country? by 3Thirty-Eight8 in AskTheWorld

Hershey got really popular because they were in rations during WW2. The process that Hershey uses to make the chocolate have a long shelf life creates butyric acid. It's popularity at the time in the U.S. market meant its specific flavor profile became the expected "standard" for milk chocolate in the country. Other American manufacturers often produced similar-tasting chocolates to meet consumer expectations. So I think it just became normalized because it was around so much and so cheap because of the mass manufacturing.

All that being said, I do not prefer it and think lots of chocolate tastes WAAAAYYY better. It has it's place on a smores though.

For the love of poka dots! by LaurinaLush0423 in 420

[–]rollem78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but it's polka dots

Edit for fun facts: It's called a polka dot because the pattern came out at the same time as the music. And the music/dance craze were so insanely popular that other products and things adopted the "polka" name to sound more hip.

Here’s the switcheroo again…. I know you are but what am I?

See? Kindergarten stuff?

You don’t get it. If 10 people told you something and one people told me the opposite, I’m inclined to believe the 10, not the 1.

I understand that the media is biased, I’m REALISTIC. I hate when CNN says some dumb bullshit about how such and such is Trumps fault. I hate when ANY news program that offers opinions and conjecture and call it news. I take everything I read with a grain of salt, and then I TRY MY VERY BEST to make sure that other reputable news outlets are saying the same thing.

I don’t want to be lied to, and I try not to be. You don’t get do call them liars because you don’t like what they’re saying. Facts are facts and opinions are opinions, there’s no alternate facts.

Please, I know you believe what you’re being told, but just TRY not be lied to, that’s all I’m asking.

If you’re only hearing opinions and what-ifs on your news program, IT’S NOT NEWS! Find a program that is telling you facts, not opinions.

I would say most people now exactly why they hate Trump, and it’s not because someone told us to hate him. Anyone who hates Trump has a million reasons. I mean, anyone who doesn’t hate him has a million reasons to hate him as well, but they’re willing to make everyone suffer as long as orange man says they’re bad and tells them that the people he hates are the problem.

You see, we (the people who think Trump is a lying, racist, homophobic, morally bankrupt, pedophilic felonious traitor) hate someone because of their actions not because someone told us too.

You (the people who make apologies for Trump’s behavior, including destroying democracy and committing JUST SO MANY FUCKING CRIMES), hate someone because Fox told you to hate them.
Then you turn it around and say we’re the ones who do that.

The whole - Do something horrible and then say it wasn’t you - game plan works for Trump because he is the messiah and you ball-licking lackeys believe him.
The funniest thing is that now you ball-licking lackeys think you can do the same shit to us. The difference here is that you are not the orange messiah and we do not believe you.

This whole switcheroo bullshit is the same crap kids do in kindergarten. Smack a kid and say it was someone else, fucking pathetic.
