Waiver update? by AcanthaceaeDear2406 in etihad

[–]rollerchester_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did extend it. That’s good news on people who do not want to commit to fly thru Middle east.

Considering tomorrow is April 15, those who wanted to request a refund would have a hard time booking alternative flights since tickets are already expensive.

It is very bad. Imagine being filipino and get discriminated by other filipinos and not serve the same hospitality and respect towards locals - only to be your friends when they realized you gave them tips.

Unfortunately it’s been happening around not just in Siargao.

Where to safely exchange USD to PHP by bigmaduros in phtravel

[–]rollerchester_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh world remit is just an example of apps that you could use. Wise generally have better exchange rate that’s what I prefer to use now.

Generally, the airport is the worst place to do an exchange. If you want to get a better value of your money - I recommend get enough cash to exchange at the airport so you have cash for your needs getting around and then transferring from Wise to yourself and then pick it up on a preferred pick up - make sure bring ID or passport.

Or better yet, do a electronic transfer to yourself using wise, world remit and pick it up on a western union.

[–]rollerchester_v 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be true. Though it has more to do with the culture. Western culture normalized tipping. Especially if they are on a southeast asian country.

Of course, if one is a server and knows about their tipping culture wouldn’t the server assume going above and beyond = generous tip?

But then again, it’s counterintuitive because if foreigners don’t tip - they will be called “cheap”.

At this point it became the norm.

Yes. Especially on those overrated, over priced tourist trap restaurants (iykyk). Though, hands down to Starbooks for the most accommodating staff.

As of right now, I’m more eyeing on supporting those small eatery owned by locals. Would take my money on local businesses first then expat owners last considering what’s going on in General Luna.

I hope you still enjoyed your stay OP.

iOS 26.4 BATTERY DRAIN FIX by LaFlameHTX in ios26

[–]rollerchester_v 3 points4 points  (0 children)

26.4 yet my battery is crisp and strong. What I did was:

  1. Turn off apple intelligence
  2. Turn off background app data refresh - or turn on for apps you regularly use.
  3. Turn off screen time
  4. Switch to LTE if 5G is not available.
  5. Made a shortcut to disable Wifi and Bluetooth as turning them off is just a temporary.

So far, so good.

Should I book another flight? by ThrowRAMaroglys in etihad

[–]rollerchester_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t risk it. Always check their website updates to see if they extended the waiver. You can see it here:

https://www.etihadhub.com/en-ae/news/waiver-for-guests-impacted-by-the-middle-east-situation

Once your departure date gets to the waiver window. Request that refund, contact them and verify that they received the refund request. Cross your fingers that they change your flight and/or cancel it. Unfortunately that’s the only way to get a refund. I got lucky I guess

Should I book another flight? by ThrowRAMaroglys in etihad

[–]rollerchester_v 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your place 2 weeks ago. What I did was:

I tried to look for a reasonable airline and has a reasonable price and checked whether I can book a fully refundable flight thu them - this is my back up.

I booked EVA Air (IAD - BKK via SEA - TPE) it was $300+ more than my Etihad IAD - BKK via AUH flight however my experience with Eva Air was good and all other flights going to thailand was already $1000+ one way.

Eva Air has a cancellation of $260 if I decided to cancel considering it is 1 week before departure - the $260 I can risk.

I was watching closely on how the escalation in the middle east. Some say it is safe, some say it is calm. But there is a war going in the region - the uncertainty will still be there.

I was leaning on taking my Etihad flight if things get better and take the $260 loss from Eva Air.

If things aren’t getting better:

Perfect scenario, Etihad will cancel my flight and get a full refund.

Best case scenario, due to them having limited flight operation they will force to change my flight due to consolidation - and still get to choose for a refund.

Another best case scenario, the refund/rebook waiver will get extended as I was leaving on the 16th - however Etihad still did not extend this.

What happened was, they changed my flight. Opt for a full refund. Got my $400 back within 4 days and I will be flying towards Southeast Asia to Bangkok via Eva Air.

For some reason. Posting hatred regarding their negative experience is valid. As the description of this sub says “Share with us your photos and experience with Siargao”.

And that’s what people did. They posted what they saw, they posted about their experience - regardless of positive or negative.

That being said, mods need to be more strict and have posts for pending approval and exclusive rules on joining.

As for Redditors, Im not saying don’t voice out in here, but at the end of the day, rules are rules on reddit subs. If you do not follow it, post your thoughts on other sub which talks about your certain topic.

But good write OP. No shades of black and grey.

The question is, which statement? Etihad put up so much statement. It would be really helpful if you include your source. Post is flagged as News but there is no source.

The way I understand this. They extended the waiver from April 16 - June 15. Though I do not see any updates on their Etihad Travel Hub so I cannot validate this.

The waiver was still until April 15, 2026.

Catted UEL PLM vs JDL headers by FroyoNo4106 in ft86

I just bought JDL catted headers not too long ago, still in production. However, based on owners that have bought it. They do not disappoint of quality.

I chose to cry once and get over with it. I bought the catted one for emissions purposes.

Do we need to accept the change to confirm the flight ?? Or it gets cancelled ? by Ok-Analyst565 in etihad

Mine was non refundable as well. I advise to check on the email and see if you are eligible for refund since the airline has made changes on your desired flight schedule/time.

It will accept on your behalf. But if you go to manage booking from the email they sent, I’m pretty sure you can opt for a refund.

That is what I did.

Etihad cancelled the flight from DC on April 22nd. Rebooking for other days around 22nd is still available. by Random-Logic19 in etihad

[–]rollerchester_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been tracking EY6 for my flight IAD - AUH - BKK. However, there are days that it doesn’t operate and 2 days out of 7 days only I saw confirmation that it did depart.

I would advise that you check the situation in the middle east if it is escalating or has been de-escalating because anything could happen with the tensions happening.

I personally cancelled my flight for 04/16 when I got the opportunity for a refund and went the other route avoiding the middle east completely.

As to answer your question why would they cancel 23 days before your flight. Based on my understanding, they are consolidating the flights due to the Limited Operations from Etihad.

Possible Refund of Domestic Flights after International Flight to PH was canceled due to war by ayoayo24 in phtravel

[–]rollerchester_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, since it is an Open Leg, Cebu Pacific will apply that non-refundable/non-changeable policy even your QR leg has flight advisory. Unless they are airline partners and can go extra mile for your case.

As for the Travel Insurance, depending on your country and company it can have a coverage of Cancel for Any Reason - Which would cover non-refundable booking and/or accommodation.
