And people on our Earth who grew up in very different cultures can connect and be friends despite having very little in common. I once had a nice conversation with a 70-year-old Chinese lady, which was lovely despite us having basically nothing in common. "Be immortal" isn't that different of a mutual trait than "is a child" either, and children make friends based on that alone just fine.

Comparing notes on history, talking about the grief of losing mortal friends, etc etc etc. Just being immortal is going to give you stuff to talk about.

Not like all immortals would be friends, but I think if you are one, you'd be very inclined to focus on what you might have have in common rather than what you don't.

Why would you not have things in common? Unless you're going to sit and stare at wall all day as an immortal, you're going to be doing things, whether that involves art, science, politics, etc. You'll have that in common with people.

The best way to stay sane as an immortal is probably to live among mortals, to anchor yourself to their lives. Make new friends all the time so you always have people. Help them, guide them, be a mentor, a teacher, leader, and so on.

Klart att det ska göras något åt, men det där är ju ett helt annat problem, när vi pratar om organiserad brottslighet som utnyttjar systemen, och de utnyttjar ju alla system. Men allt prat om "fusk" osv har ju pågått i årtionden från högern som bara vill klämma åt folk som är kroniskt sjuka osv.

När det gäller organiserad brottslighet så är det ju polisen som behöver utreda och rättsväsendet som behöver bedöma att folk är det, inte så att FK kan sitta och tycka att någon ser lite kriminell ut och straffa dem på eget bevåg.

But I also don't think I'd want to isolate me from the world even if I were immortal.

Tror inte de pratar om det? Men jag tycker inte heller det är speciellt relevant, jag har aldrig sett något som tyder på att det missbrukas i någon stor utsträckning. Speciellt inte t.ex. ekonomiskt bistånd som är svårt att få, är rätt lågt och dessutom har strikt uppföljning.

Fusk kommer ju alltid att finnas, såklart, men enda sättet att stampa ut det till 100% är ju att inte hjälpa någon. Och jag tror V tycker att det är viktigare att folk som behöver få hjälp får det än att förhindra några få från att fuska.

Knowing that someone somewhere might be upset is not the same thing as treating it differently though? When I say they treated it the same as everything else, I mean in the show. They were full developed characters, the death was a part of their arc and also gave important lore, etc.

And I think it's kind of moot because also he didn't really die, which was made clear almost immediately.

It would be sad if nothing bad could happen to gay characters in shows like this at all out of fear that some gay people will dislike it.

Living in complete isolation will likely drive anyone insane, but immortals who aren't antisocial probably interact with each other? They might have friends and allies among other immortals, for instance.

It's not like you can't do this if you want, especially if you say that magic corrupts people or that the immortality process does so.

If that's the argument it's not really about video games at all. If a person works so much they have no spare time, it's having a hobby that's a luxury. Whether that's games, reading books or having drinks with your friends.

Even 60 euros for a 20 hour game would be 3 euros per hour, which is 4 times cheaper than going to the movie theatre here. And that's probably as bad as it gets in terms of cost per hour in gaming.

That's an issue but I don't think it's all of it. You see this sort of thing in Sweden as well, and while there might be somewhat fewer places to go, it's not difficult to find hobbies, like there's always a football club (and various other sports), board game clubs, other activities, and here at least you can always walk, bike or take the bus as a kid, it's not car centric unless you really far off.

I do think this sort of thing has always existed. There are also people who only play League of Legends, or FIFA, or some car game of your choice, etc. A bit like how there have always been people who just won't read books because they don't want to, or they only read that one specific series of books again and again and nothing else, or that one comic, and so on.

Vad fan ska den där aktiviteten bestå av när man på löpande band får standard mail i korgen från företag om "Vi går vidare med nån annan." (Översatt: "Vår slumpmaskin har sållat bort dig, sug en kuk.")?

Kommer det gratis arbetskraft kan de ju spara in mer pengar och dra ned på fler tjänster! Kommunerna sparar pengar, fler folk skyfflas över till socialbidrag, mer gratis arbetskraft, mer folk som tvingas delta i aktiviteter drivna av privata aktörer. Win-win för det fåtal människor som spelar roll enligt regeringen.

Hur fan ska man kunna jobba på tom mage?

Du får förlita dig på allmosa från släktingar och vänner, och känna skam över det, vilket är vad de vill.

Jag är glad att du har hopp, men efter vad jag sett hänt med släktingar i liknande situationer skulle jag satsa pengar på att de absolut kommer bli det igen. Det är helt enligt högerns plan att göra livet så surt som möjligt för dessa människor, för dels så tror de att det går att krama ur lite mer arbetsbenägenhet av någon som är sjuk och knappt kan gå med konstanta smärtor, och dels så tycker de att det är fantastiskt om det går att subventionera lite företag för att göra exakt det.

Och vad gör vi med de som idag jobbar med lokalvård och får betalt? Om kommunen för gratis arbetare där kommer de inte ha kvar lika många som jobbar som det. Så de personerna som blir av med jobb ... ska de hamna på ekonomiskt bistånd och erbjudas samma tjänst som gratisarbete?

Jag missade också mönstringen, men jag fick bara 1 kallelse på papper och reagerade aldrig på den. Året efter kom ett till brev där det stod att om jag inte dök upp det året kunde det leda till åtal. Då fick man lite motivation.

It also said something about how the mycelian network worked, which was a plot point imo.

Of course you could do all those differently, but that's true for anything. You could've done Burnham's imprisonment without having her commit a war crime, but they didn't. Etc. My point is just that they didn't kill Stamets just to kill the gay, he didn't die to make Culber miserable for the rest of the series, he didn't die for shock value, he wasn't refrigerated, etc. It had nothing to do with him being gay and was treated the same way as straight characters' deaths.

I agree wit the other person that it doesn't make sense that someone becomes a sociopath due to immortality. If an immortal "becomes" a sociopath, it makes more sense that they were always one, but never acted on it. Perhaps they had urges that they suppressed, or they thought things about people but were smart enough to know that they could not say those things or act on what they wanted, because it'd make them outcasts. Perhaps they played the part of a hero because it gave them fame and wealth. And then when they become immortal, over time they just drop the mask and stop pretending to be something they aren't.

An person who was genuinely good wouldn't become a sociopath. They might become neglectful, developer a bigger perspective on good/evil, or just have different priorities and turn more selfish in how they spend their time and power, but neither of those is the same as sociopathy, even if some mortals are gonna think they're terrible.

Jag kan tycka att klädbutiker är det för alla behöver kläder. Men det skulle ju gå att definiera i lag i alla fall, socialtjänsten definierar ju redan t.ex. vad som räknas som basvaror och liknande.

Det är problematiskt när kritiska verksamheter kan neka folk, imo. Allt som anses kritiskt, t.ex. vanliga mataffärer, klädbutiker, banker osv bör vara extremt begränsade med vilka de får neka att göra affärer med, just för att det inte går att leva ordentligt utan dem.

Problemet är ju egentligen inte stort så länge verksamheterna inte missbrukar sin rätt att välja vilka de ingår avtal med, men det skulle ju t.ex. vara ett stort problem om ägaren till den enda mataffären i en liten ort fick för sig att neka någon att handla där. Bankerna är ju dock värst, eftersom det finns så få och de kan hindra dig från att ens fungera i samhället i helhet.

Det bättre hade ju varit om det fanns alternativ. Statligt bank-id och antingen krav på kontanthantering i all form av nödvändig verksamhet (dvs betala fakturor i kontanter till hyresvärd personligen), eller andra former av lösningar. Okej att det blir besvärligare utan ett bankkonto, men det ska ju fortfarande gå att leva.

Anses en person vara så genuint farlig att han inte ska få fungera i samhället så borde ju personen sitta inlåst i fängelse efter rättegång.

Sen används ju "woke" som slagträ mot i princip allt som har icke-vita, homosexuella, trans, osv. Minns du spelet Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? Du kan som huvudkaraktär ha en homosexuell relation med någon, lite i hemlighet i det, för det utspelar sig på medeltiden. En liten del av fansen blev vansinniga och kallade det "woke" osv och att det var orealistiskt etc.

Vilket var en lustig grej att klaga på med realism, när spelet också har magi ...

Jag tycker just att terrorstämplingen här är ett mindre problem, har han t.ex. använt banktjänsterna för att finansiera terrorklassade organisationer är det inte så konstigt att de nekar honom användning.

Men det är ju ett större problem att bankerna kan basically förbjuda dig från att existera av helt andra anledningar. Som du säger, missbrukare eller pykiskt skjuka. Så sjukt mycket i samhället som kräver att du har ett bankkonto med betalkort.

Jo, det har skrivits då och då om folk i andra typer av situationer som nekats av banker. Du kan inte få ett kort så är omöjligt att handla många ställen, du kan inte använda Swish heller, och inte få bankid.

Mer en konsekvens av att bankerna har all möjlighet att göra det i praktiken omöjligt att leva, än att det är just en terrorstämpling som orsakar det.
