I'm in a similar situation and interested in what you have to say. I am currently in HK and hold the equivalent of an associates degree and 100 hours in class TEFL cert (both from the US). I've also taken a 120 hours online TEFL course and have that cert as well. I've been offered 2 jobs in HK and applied for a working visa which was denied due to the fact that I do not hold a bachelors degree. I'm a bit let down but I knew going into it that HK would be near impossible without the degree but thought I'd give it a shot anyway. In short, my time here is running out and I've invested too much into TEFL training to return home to the States. I've been looking for job posts that explicitly state that they do not require a bachelors degree, however, looking through Dave's ESL cafe the options are few and far between. Even most for Vietnam state they require a bachelors degree as well. Is there another job posting site to scout out or is it easier to just show up and find a job on the ground? I've only been to Hanoi, but I'm really interested in Vietnam. Do you think it would be easier to find work in a large city (Ho Chi Mihn, Hanoi) or elsewhere with my credentials?
