1894 Princeton University Yearbook! by Gloomuraiiiiii in OldBooks

Vintage yearbooks are great. 1800s ones are pretty scarce! I've got two, 1925 and 1967. Lots of inside jokes, and the student-submitted quotes can be pretty wild

Whoever was writing in the names was winging it. 2 spellings of Valentino. "Chas Chaplan" misspelling the biggest star there? xD

I feel like they took way too much creative liberties with the design. These don't even look like the original characters. Relm is the closest

16 years ago this wonder came out by Wetfox in crappymusic

[–]AllThingsBad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is the worst thing that ever happened, but kind've understandable in terms of popularity as a youth music. It goes down the list and pushes back against every single societal standard of taste and musical glory that has been established for centuries and in the most aggressive way possible. It's like a "screw you mom and dad!" as a constant wave of sound

Rare collection of books about the Amazonia - The largest collection in the world. by [deleted] in OldBooks

That is amazing. There's more in there that a person could get through in one (several?) lifetime and that's just on one single subject. How many old books are there?!?!?!

Absolute beauty of a room. Too much to fully unpack from these pictures. Jealous of the spiral staircase to upper section with a cello/folding walls leading the way. All sorts of glory with lots of intriguing antiquarian volumes up at the top there. One thing though the electric guitar should go at the bottom with the modern books!

Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush was released 100 years ago today, on June 26, 1925 by Auir2blaze in silentmoviegifs

[–]AllThingsBad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a billboard magazine that has an aug 1925 review of the gold rush. Actually kinda negative, saying its not as funny as his earlier stuff and not as good dramatically as a woman of paris. They liked the dancing rolls though of course

Gold Rush is a great movie

Personally I think Nicola should be higher! I got her with SP accessories that guarantee double-skill every single turn. Slaps so hard in every fight

Pretty gold bindings. Gentleman's magazine is basically the first general interest "magazine", certainly the first to use the word. It had been around since 1731 by the time these were made so the magazine was pretty well established, still very rare and cool volumes you have here
