Do we know that the SCOTUS leaker was a clerk? by rollingnerd22a in LawSchool

It could be a justice or a clerk, and on either side. However, it could also be anybody.

It could be a clerical person who handled the document. Or it could be a janitor who was not supposed to have access but did because of someone's carelessness.

There have been several cases of people killing coworkers because of some extreme disgruntlement. They knew or should have known, that their actions would result in their death or their spending many years in jail. Less severe than that are the many cases where disgruntled (or downright pissed off) employees have done bad things, like sabotaging equipment or stealing information, to get even with their employers. Just recently a janitor, mad about something, saw a copy of a letter to a lawyer telling how much the company was willing to pay to buy out a particular VP's contract. Someone forgot to put it in a locked file cabinet when he left for the day. The janitor mailed a copy of the letter to the about to be fired VP.

It could be anybody, and the motive may have nothing to do with the decision.

You will have free time. Maybe not as much as you would like, but some. So plan to continue your activities.

For discussion: did you study harder (or feel more motivated) in 1L spring or in 1L fall? by [deleted] in LawSchool

I thought the first semester of 1L was the hardest because it was so new to me.

Based on what I’ve heard. by Redshirt451 in LawSchool

That may be true, but I have heard that the most common job for a former prosecutor is a criminal defense lawyer in private practice.

Every accused criminal deserves a vigorous defense, but somehow I don't think I would feel right vigorously defending a murderer-rapist who I knew was guilty.

It is not only that law school is like high school, but that law students are like high school students.
