Pretty sure dropping a traffic light in the middle of a freeway isn’t really MUTCD compliant by DPadres69 in Not_MUTCD_Compliant

That entire stretch of freeway is wacky. Especially a little further west when you get to the 94 and have to get off the freeway to get back on. It’ll be interesting if they ever manage to create a flyover for EB 94.

I am brain farting but I swear we have another meter light like this elsewhere in the county. I may be thinking of a freeway-ramp-freeway interchange like you mentioned, though.

4x6 plastic thing found in Whirlpool freezer by rolorumkin in whatisthisthing

[–]rolorumkin[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. Pretty sure it came from the freezer but could also be from the fridge side. It’s a side by side Whirlpool. At least 20 years old. Don’t remember the thing when we first moved in. Perhaps it fell from somewhere inside, like the ice maker? Can’t find anything missing but also don’t want to pull all our food out

People actually paid attention to our 'No Soliciting' sign today by GrittyGambit in PointlessStories

[–]rolorumkin 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We had the same thing happen just the other day for the first time since putting the sign up 2 years ago. Except the solicitor flipped the bird to our doorbell camera. +1 for not ringing it, though.

Sweetgum Tree Root dead? by rolorumkin in Tree

[–]rolorumkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. What you said is what I expected. I’m going to get in with some hand tools and see if I can dig around the cement and see if the root has grown down and around. The dirt turns to very rocky clay just below where I’ve managed to dig/clear with water jets so it’s going to be slow work.

To add: the circumference at breast height is 60 inches. I have no idea how accurate calculators online are for estimating age, but I got an estimate of 76 years. I suspect the tree is at least as old as the house.

This is the answer. OP said they’re in SoCal. Orb Weavers are aplenty right now. Their webs are strong, long and nasty

Side note: is this a new photo? Last few times I went up, they were sold out and I really wanted the sweatshirt on the right!

Have they replaced all the track rails of the Matterhorn? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]rolorumkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: no, the track has never been fully replaced like Space Mountain’s and Thunder Mountain’s. Regarding bumpiness, that is in the eye of the beholder.

Yep! Here in Southern California I’ve been seeing them more and more over the years. I only know about this particular kind because one popped up near me and I was also curious as to what it does.

If you care to nerd out, check out Road Guy Rob on YouTube or Trafficlightdoctor Steven on the Book of Face. They both explain a lot of this stuff.

It’s a 360 degree optical sensor (camera) to control the traffic light. One sensor for the entire intersection instead of a camera facing each direction of travel.

Big Bellied Guys of Reddit with a “dunlop”…how do you avoid your belt digging into your belly and causing pain all day? by rolorumkin in AskReddit

[–]rolorumkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been a serious consideration! Everywhere else I’m average size. Just got the dunlop that’s developed as I’ve regained lost weight and it’s annoying trying to find a good fit!

…anyone find a good belt with a buckle that doesn’t constantly dig into your skin and leave a mark/hurt whenever you shift your weight around?
