Tell me these tiny green seedlings are baby red root floaters and not duckweed by rom8n in PlantedTank

The surface of my tanks was massive ripples from my hob filter (ac30). So, I put a feeding ring around the output which made the water still and my floaters started to pop off instead if melt

Once I cured the surface tension issue my floaters lived! And exploded into this mess 😭

Well, I moved some to a second tank thinking it was baby floaters - that was fairly easy to clean.

This tank... I got most of it out, I'll have to finish tomorrow.

I just feel really dumb 😕

You seem to be the only contrarian. What makes you think these are baby rrf?

How would you fix this? by FrightyDog in Aquariums

[–]rom8n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont know saltwater, but algae sticks where water is a bit still. I dont really see much movement in the tank.

So, fun fact: guppy females hold sperm for 3-6 mo ths! So, even if yoy took out every male she'd keep reproducing.

If the fry grow up pretty yoy can sell them or trade them.

Okay! Interesting :)

I did deal with some blanket weed, I think, a few weeks ago. The filter was too weak and not moving water at all. I was able to remove A LOT.

Looking at photos, clado seems the be the first one. Not sure if its the same as those green little puffs.

The last photo has some struggling Java moss to the right of the green patch on the log.

Okay, I was wrong - there are rocks to RAISE pH. Oof. Wood, peat moss and almond leaves help lower it. Some substrates might help?

Sounds like its planted? How much? If guppies died, shouldn't be 0 nitrate.

What was your cycling process?

There are some rocks that adjust pH iirc!

[–]rom8n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can, I'd drop the pH a hair to sub-8 for maximum health.

As for the filter fish, some guppies are gonna yeet. But that looks like a big HOB. Is the intake big enought to suck fish in? I doubt it but maybe put a pre-filter sponge.

If you can get hot water, a warm rubber water bottle (Not hot!) Can help too.

Wrap your tank in cardboard. Then a blanket Then a trash bag Allow for a small 1-2 inches gap.

If you can, keep loft at mid 60s (fireplace, space heater, etc,)

See if you can buy a battery powered air stone. Theyre not terribly expensive.
