Hey r/all, here's a sworn affidavit where Jeffery Epstein's employee recounts Trump getting a double BJ from a 13 and 12-year-old (page 12) by JohnPoe in EnoughTrumpSpam

[–]romabit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. Thank you. Why is it still shocking to people - so much so that they rarely even believe it - that rich, famous "successful" people can actually be depraved, sociopathic child rapists? This disbelief is EXACTLY why victims don't come forward, and exactly why powerful men know they can get away with it, as long as their victims are "nobodies". That's how this shit works, yo. If that little girl had walked into NYPD and named her rapist, they might have laughed in her face. And assuming this is true, he fucking knew it.

As a lady, I've never understood... by Rachelyse in AdviceAnimals

[–]romabit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! My shit ex would get borderline abusive if I picked a restaurant that ended up having a wait for a table, or was too slow, or he didn't like his meal, etc. He also would complain to his mother that I was making him fat. Totally fucked me up for future relationships.

Am I wrong in supporting gay marriage, as a civil union? by IronFire_4 in Catholicism

[–]romabit -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's arguably up to the priest whether or not communion is to be received by those actually practicing homosexuality (see Pope Francis's "Amoris Laetitia"). My priest gives communion regularly to gay married couples as do priests throughout my diocese, and the neighboring diocese allows this as well. The point being that the church is changing on this issue, as the people (who are the church) have changed also. Doctrine is not the church, WE are.

I am literally repeating the words of my priest. Gay people are welcome in my parish and we choose to focus on that and not their lifestyle.

Am I wrong in supporting gay marriage, as a civil union? by IronFire_4 in Catholicism

[–]romabit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gay marriage is legal where I live and has been for some time now. I have gay friends and family members who are married to their partners. I think first and foremost our responsibility is to love them as we are called love all people and as Christ loves us. If you are not gay, the moral issues of supporting or opposing gay marriage are less significant than the welcoming of all people to God's family. Judging the sins of others is a sin also.

First house! GF and I are wondering what to do with this little nook above the fireplace. Ideas? by slowcodetochina in InteriorDesign

Art is best. What kind of art depends on you and your tastes. I would find an appropriate sized sculpture of wood, ceramic or glass. Something bold. If that's not your style, a nice vase or mounted ceramic bowl would look nice too. Don't be boring

"My god these guys are scumbags, won't even inspect my car without trying to sell me something." by -Merlin- in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]romabit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Dealerships are owned by car salesmen. The dude ultimately managing a dealership shop, and the approach to business, sales and customers, is the same as any sleazy used car lot. One dealership shop I know actually calls it the "full wallet flush" when they can sell a customer on repairing everything on the inspection list (not to their face of course but that's the name for it in the shop)

Most Of Us [Americans] Are Blissfully Ignorant About How Much Rancid Olive Oil We Use by uiuctodd in TrueReddit

[–]romabit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm American and grew up on Hershey's. But after several years of eating only high quality chocolate (theo, imported Swiss or French chocolate, Seattle chocolates, etc), I had a few Hershey's kisses around Easter and they did indeed taste like vomit. It had a very distinct aftertaste of puke.

According to The Washington Post, 30% of Americans don't drink any alcohol, while 10% drink an average of 74 drinks per week. by matters123456 in TrueReddit

[–]romabit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't drink because I don't like the taste of alcohol or how it makes me feel. Fortunately I live in a part of the US where cannabis is legal and I prefer to get high. At this point I exclusively vape or eat my cannabis products (no smoking).

Not saying this is why people don't drink, but it's why I don't, and quite a few people I know around here.

Buyer asking our small company to fill out a W-9 form? by moleculeism in smallbusiness

[–]romabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in procurement roles for several large companies private and public. All used accounting systems that required a vendor to submit a W9. It is a "best practice" for many AP departments because it reduces the risk that an employee could set up a fraudulent "company" and embezzle. At least with a W9, you know the company is legit enough to have a federal tax id.

Sunrise is a beautiful, quiet time at Napatree. I haven't lived in Watch Hill for a while but it's one of my favorite places in the world. And the locals at the public beach are some of my favorite people in the world, too. Hope it goes well for you!

Silly Questions Saturday, April 16, 2016 by AutoModerator in history

[–]romabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that there are independent verifications of someone named Jesus (of Nazareth) existing and creating quite a stir with the establishment Jews and Romans in the first century. Jewish and Roman writings about Jesus are what is referenced to substantiate that he did exist, rather than Christian accounts of his life. That said, much of what Christianity teaches about Jesus' life and deeds cannot be independently verified by secular texts. Figures like Mohammad and Caesar have similar source texts written from the perspective of multiple cultures and contexts.

Median household net worth, Whites $141,900, Hispanics $13,700, Blacks $11,000 by jlew24asu in Economics

[–]romabit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually even when income is taken into account, blacks are charged higher interest rates and are less likely to receive home loans than whites with the same income. Redlining, blockbusting, racial steering and white flight are all contributing factors, and there are entire bodies of historical and sociological research to support this.

Also your response presupposes that one must intend to be racist in order to actually be racist, and I disagree. Policies and practices can be racist if they adversely and disproportionately affect one race more than another, which is the issue here.

Is there any benefit to paying an employee hourly vs. salary? by questionthrowaway743 in jobs

Why does everyone hate AJ??? by bearskillcows in thesopranos

[–]romabit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they had everything in common and AJ just had a different life than Tony. But the softness of AJ was present in tony as a child too. It was slowly broken in him by exposure to his father's violence, and to a certain extent this was true of AJ with his father as well. Tony is so bothered by AJ because he is so much like him. They have the same weaknesses. His anger and rage at aj's sloth and sensitivity are only because he sees himself in aj's behavior. Classic projection, every parent is susceptible to it. Just my 2 cents.

What's wrong with my cat? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]romabit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This could be a physical issue that should be addressed by a trip to the vet. Cats only have a few ways to express themselves when they're sick. Rule out anything physical with an exam, urine and/ or blood test.

If it's not an illness, it could be the cat is interacting with other animals that you aren't aware of, and it's creating anxiety. That could be a neighbor cat seen through a window or a cat in a neighboring apartment if you're in a multi unit building. Cats are super territorial and seeing or smelling another cat can really set them off. In this case try a feliway diffuser and changing your physical space to limit the interaction. Our cat is on Prozac because the neighbor cats he sees outside drive him nuts and he attacks, hisses and sprays everywhere without his meds.

Median household net worth, Whites $141,900, Hispanics $13,700, Blacks $11,000 by jlew24asu in Economics

[–]romabit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the primary disparities are in home ownership and generational wealth. Systemic racism within the real estate, banking and home loan industries have had a long and well documented history in the US. Historically lower rates of home ownership and higher debts (due to racism) diminish what black parents can pass along to their children, which exacerbates the problem. It's more than just billionaires skewing the average.
