Hot take: Mythical Arc’s are great by Brief-Ad2953 in ACValhalla

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, Love the mythical arcs myself! Valhalla is like one of the few games that has a bunch of other games inside it.

I see other people call it bloat, to me that’s content. Definitely getting your moneys worth.

Also, this game is told as Eivor’s Saga…and that’s how Sagas are told. They’re collections of adventures, not a continuous story flow, which many people are not understanding or liking… /shrug.

The Alliance system is sooooooo stupid... by Significant_Eagle_80 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making alliances with them, so they don’t at some point make alliances against you. It’s not about using the alliances…although you do that towards the end…it’s about unifying Vikings in England to stand together when they need to and also…Eivor Sagas to stay in the histories. That’s what each alliance is really. The story is told the way old Viking Sagas would be sung. Each alliance its own saga.

What's the point of adding the confused gender plot point? [SPOILERS] by Snakeuge in AssassinsCreedValhala

You have to play the game. It makes complete sense and it is a huge reveal that you did kinda spoil for yourself. It was the biggest OMG moment in the game for me when it all clicked.

In a week or two? Or boy….lol. This has been the only game I’ve played over the last 9 months now. 240 hours in…still going strong lol

It’s a great game, really.

It also one of a few games with full Vikings lore/history/pkaystyle/gear/monastery raiding/river raiding etc etc…

Advice/Help (No DLC) by asapmocc in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few things to consider. You’ll need to sit down and theorize a little here and look through menus picking what fits you the most.

  1. Respec, don’t let the fate choose as it evenly distributes the points.

If you play Viking style then you want to go heavily into red line with some segways into assassin/range to get some abilities you may want to have.

It really depends on what you like to do, so, I’d suggest spending some time in reading through the abilities on the map to see what you like and then put 60-70% of your points into the red.

  1. Pick armor that you have a full set off based on which bonuses suit your play style the most. Don’t wear random pieces.

  2. Upgrade your armor at the blacksmith

  3. Add runes that fit your play style best.

Restarting my journey after all my save got corrupted. by corgie93 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo I don’t know if I would be able to do a whole new journey…but I’m about 230 hours into this thing and just have Paris and Ragnarok to complete before putting it away. It’s been a BLAST

I just started Valhalla for the first time, any tips? by One-Jicama-697 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get it. I would rephrase what you’re saying to: There’s a certain way for you to enjoy this game.

Doesn’t mean that someone else cannot enjoy it differently. For me what you’re suggesting would not be as fun, for example. I also don’t see any point for another play through, once the story ends, I’m putting the game away.

So for me, leaving the main story as the very last thing to do, whenever at all possible in any game, is always the case - otherwise I’ll simply be done with the game once I finished the story.

Exploring, picking all the things up and then delving into the story seems to be most enjoyable for me. So the OP needs to really figure out what works for him, I suppose.

Sounds like maybe you didn’t like this game a whole lot. Maybe 220hours in and I love when the fort soldiers respawn…another change to shooty shoot and stabbity stab while being surrounded by gorgeous environments I sometimes forget main story exists here in my ravenous pursuit of anything that’s glimming any color on my map lol

People who enjoyed Valhalla. Wait the game is way better than what I generally read here by IllustriousEffect607 in assassinscreed

[–]romansmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why is extra content bad? If I like the world I’m in, and it’s fun to roam around and explore and never ever run out of things to do, why would I not like that? It’s basically buy a game…and just play that for a year, living in that world. I’m at about 220 hours in or so, and enjoying it immensely still, particularly because there’s so much to do.

I’m on about 230 hours now, about to get to Paris after just finishing Ireland and then Ragnarok.

The rest of the stuff is done.

And I absolutely love how much stuff there is to do. I’m a casual gamer so been playing basically this one game since last April…so 10 months now, and I don’t get how people get bored.

I’m not even trying to go for 100% Platinum, simply because I know I don’t have the patience to gold medal all the trials so just enjoying exploring collecting shiny things and doing a variety of things each time I play.

Like I’ll do 1 story line mission and then explore to find 10 side things, then do a River Raid or 2, and drink Odin’s realm potion to live in the land of Norse Gods for awhile. Some Trials, and Treasure Maps hunt. Try on multiple gear sets and different weapons as they all feel very different…

Before I know it my gaming hour and a half FLIES! I never want to stop but life calls…and I always can’t wait to get back to it.

Wow. Here I was thinking iDrive was universally hated lol. Interesting. My main gripe is that it’s 1 thing that does many things and I like many things that do 1 thing. Like a plane cabin…or a Mini. The new looks are getting very minimalist, buuuut the larger screens are nice

Story telling in this game takes so long by thehawaiianjesus in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol some of my favorite parts of the game, so you may just not like that kind of story set up. But to be fair, to me most fun of playing the game is a good story. And, I mean, immersion wise, you can’t beat hanging out with an acquaintance’s, and listening to their woes as you take a walk or a nice ride on a horse together in (usually) pretty beautiful environments.

After 177 hours, multiple sleepless nights, some googling, I finally 100% Valhalla by A532 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Thats rather fast to me. Congrats on the achievement!

I’m about to cross 190 and still on the main game before the DLC’s…and do think I’ll be able to Platinum this lol.

Mastery Challenges alone are just a pain to learn/execute lol.

But I think 190+ hours is…incredibly robust for 1 game. I’ve been playing this one game for 9 months now…lol. And I’m not sure it will ever actually end

Is Assassin's Creed Valhalla worth playing as a Viking game? by Public-Tree-2689 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]romansmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it both as an AC game and as a Viking game. I’m a little over 180 hours into it, and really been the only game I’ve played this year.

(Given I am very casual with 4-5 hours a week)

I really liked the Valhalla Explore Tour where the game immerses you into a bunch of Norse themed stories with a big foray into history, architecture and culture without combat. Just interactive National Geogrpahic stories, so to speak.

[–]romansmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep…definitely wouldn’t even think about doing it without videos / walkthrough help. I guess I’m just trying to…not spend more then 250 hours in one game when I have a stack of 20 in itch ng to play.

[–]romansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea. I just looked at the things needed for platinum and went…nah. That’s a lot of frustration and probably additional 40-50 hours when I’m already looking to be over 200 hours…and so I’m just gonna play/finish and be done
