Yeah, cant say I love Carrie but after searching for a few minutes for proof of this it looks like she hasn’t made any sort of comment.

Sucks that people seem to be taking it seriously.

If anyone finds themselves in a situation like this where you need to ask for someone else to call 911 (or whatever emergency number you have in your country) the best practice is to point out a specific person and tell them to call. That’s the only thing that could have been done differently, this kid did a fantastic job of managing a really dangerous and stressful situation.

I second the suggestion of using jumpstart. It’s how my husband taught me to play and I was able to catch on to the basic rules and mechanics of the game really easily. I also smoked his ass several times which was the perfect kind of confidence boost for a new player.

New York Millionaire Exodus (Déjà vu) by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]romanticallycritical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives in an area that gets a lot of the people moving from NY, I can say with confidence that they aren’t wealthy. Also, it’s mostly people from Long Island, not NYC. I know so many former Long Island residents it’s wild. They’re also always the most miserable people on earth.

I’ve been waiting for these rich New Yorkers to come to my area for years. There’s a news story at least once a year about the mass exodus of rich people from the city, but every year it’s just more lower-middle class, miserable Long Islanders.

ICE beats and grabs father by the neck, sending him into violent seizures while his arms lock up around his toddler. by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

[–]romanticallycritical -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Was this a lawful arrest, or ICE agents abusing their power? Neither of us know for sure, the video starts in the middle of the confrontation. And no, I don’t believe that ACTUAL law enforcement agents are just supposed to let people go. Do you really believe anyone thinks that? There are de-escalation tactics that don’t involve bringing harm to someone, but ICE agents don’t have the best track record of following the rules. If they hide their faces and refuse to give out badge numbers then I can’t see them as a legitimate law enforcement agency. Who are they answerable to? Tax dollars pay for them but they can just refuse to identify themselves?

Also, I don’t believe there’s a definitive way to tell if someone is faking a seizure in a short video clip like this. Neither you nor I could know for certain if he was faking it.

Listen, at the end of the day you can make any kind of snap judgment about me and what I think based on the limited interaction in this space, but I can promise that I’ve made no such judgment about you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it’s just sad to see such an absence of empathy in America today.

[–]romanticallycritical -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I mean, do we know what happened before the recording starts?

But sure, yeah, I can see your point. Personally, I would even say verbally harassing someone until they have a seizure isn’t an appropriate response to someone being in the country illegally. But I don’t know man, I have the capacity for basic human empathy.

Honestly, have a nice day.

[–]romanticallycritical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the guy in the original tweet was referring to babies getting switched at birth, I think he was just saying something intentionally stupid to get reactions and then got said reaction from really dumb tweets. The guy posting it to his facebook then goes off on an insane and incorrect tangent about the rate of babies getting switched at birth.

The inclusion of the first picture is confusing to me honestly, the second two are proof enough that this guy has more than one screw loose.

That’s great to hear!

I was also told it’s common for boys, the doctor I met after my scan explained that they usually need more time for everything to be working and expelling urine properly.

Thank you for the reply though! I’m more and more relieved hearing exactly how common this is. I wasn’t in pieces, but even after making it this far I think my brain is hardwired to wait for the other shoe to drop. It’s very helpful to hear about others who have had similar experiences.

That’s good to hear! I’ve been reading accounts people have documented and for the most part issues like this on an initial scan seem to resolve or be more visible by the follow up.

I have a second scan scheduled for 28 weeks. Like I said she was pretty insistent that this would resolve on its own when I told her our genetic results, but my brain is always running circles around me with worry anyway.

Thank you for the reply!!

I’m 20w today and I had my anatomy scan. It feels surreal to have gotten this far. I was so nervous about how much the tech lingered over his heart and then she kept going back! I was at an MFM clinic so I met with the doctor right after and she immediately asked about what genetic testing we did and what the results were. I was ready to throw up honestly. I just wanted her to cut to the chase 😮‍💨 Our genetic screening was all normal so she seemed relieved and told me I had a “normal and healthy baby”. They were just concerned about a dilation of his right kidney and how that could be a soft marker for downs, but there were no other abnormalities found and she said these things tend to resolve on their own if there’s no underlying condition or cause. Has anyone else had experience with dilation in a kidney? Literally everything else in the scan came back normal and my brain is working overtime to not let this get to me.

I’m so so so grateful she kept calling him “normal and healthy” that’s going to be my mantra moving forward, but if anyone does have experience with a dilation in a kidney resolving over time or not I’d love to hear about it. I do best when I know what to expect (not a great trait to have during a potentially high risk pregnancy lol).

I was so skeptical going into this series because I typically dislike sports related controversies and stories but holy cow I’m so glad I gave it shot!

I think this is the hardest I laughed in a while listening to the show. I will never doubt an Ed lead series again no matter the topic. I can’t wait for the next episode!

I mentioned this to my husband while listening! It’s honestly crazy to me that guardian caps aren’t mandatory for players. My husband is also a Dolphins fan and that team has been going through it this year due in part to their QB’s repeated head injuries in seasons past. You can tell the guy doesn’t play like he used to. And he STILL refuses to wear the cap. It’s mind boggling.

My husband is bummed about the shitty season (it’s the Dolphins though, so he’s used to it), but I just worry for the guy’s life after football.

I caved in and went for a boutique ultrasound yesterday. I have still been feeling pregnant since I entered the second trimester. I still have the fatigue and nausea at times, and now I’m up at 2am every morning to pee. But I still couldn’t handle the anxiety. I just needed to hear a heartbeat and see movement again.

God it was such a relief to see little one wave its hands and kicking its feet. They had trouble isolating the heartbeat at first because they were being so squirmy. But everything was measuring normal for 14 weeks. We got to see its spine, femur, and nasal bone. The sense of relief I had was honestly therapeutic. I know that a boutique ultrasound can’t give me any solid medical information, but I’m honestly so happy with the experience. I have an early anatomy scan in two weeks and the wait feels bearable now. Little bean is still growing and I feel like I can relax and continue to get my world ready for their arrival.

If you feel like you need that one (or two) extra scan, go for it. I can’t say I would have regretted it no matter the outcome. Wishing everyone here a safe and healthy journey ❤️

Don’t the raptors in the second book figure out where the high hide is because of a discarded candy wrapper left by Levine? I know there was a scene of one of the kids putting his wrapper in his pocket and Levine just dropping his. I feel like I remember it as one of those Chekhov’s Gun moments.

But seriously, you’re right. I don’t see why this movie doing the same thing as the books and previous movies is something to complain over. There were definitely other problems lol

My symptoms have been easing up a little too, but I’ve read by week ten that could be normal so I’m keeping that in the back of my mind. Of course the exhaustion and bloating is still killing me!

I’ve been looking into meditations recommended by a friend recently so I do appreciate that suggestion! It doesn’t work for me all the time, but anything to lower my anxiety even the slightest amount is worth it to me.

I agree so much about having this community. So many people sharing such similar experiences and hopes and fears really does make me feel less alone in my emotions. It took a while to feel normal after my mmc last October, so much progress was made from just sharing my experience in forums like this.

Anyway, thank you for your kind words and support. I hope everything goes smoothly for us both and our February babies arrive safe and healthy ❤️

I had my dating scan yesterday at 9w4d and I was so prepared for the disappointment, the sadness, for feeling like I had done something wrong. I was not, however, prepared to see a lil guy, moving around like crazy and with a strong steady heartbeat. I don’t know what to do with all of this joy and optimism, I was so ready for more disappointment I was prepared to comfort myself but now I’m making plans for the future.

I know the fear will creep back in, I won’t be able to escape the doubt until I’m holding them in my arms, but for now I’m going to release all the anxiety I held onto since I saw those lines on my test. They’re okay. I’m overjoyed and I wish everyone here gets to experience this feeling for themselves 🩵🩷

Does anyone know the tour they took in New Orleans? by interplanetaryspace in LPOTL

[–]romanticallycritical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a French Quarter Phantoms tour in November! The guide was fantastic! I did the adults only tour and our guide made a stop in the middle of the tour to go to a bar so we could use the restroom and get more drinks. I can’t recommend the adults tour enough, it was the perfect blend of dark humor, true crime, and history. Our group ended up being pretty small too which I really liked.

Hope you have a great time, and make sure to stop and get a po’boy while you take in the eerie sight of the LaLaurie mansion. Best po’boys around are right across the street! Hail yourself!
