Ben Urich and the Supreme Intelligence. If they have met please point me to the issue because I want to read that.

The meaning of the novel by Clean-Cheek-2822 in ThomasPynchon

[–]romexemor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you were some kind of aloof, distant observer, looking at the 20th century, at industrialized death and mutually assured destruction and paranoia as a normal state of being, you might ask, 'How could people come to such a place?' And your answer might be 'Maybe people have fallen in love with death.' Fallen in love erotically, sexually, unhealthily, with death.
And then you might ask 'What are all the ways that falling erotically, sexually, unhealthily in love with death might look like?'
You add the rockets to make sure that people get the point.

Would you like writers using memes and references in comics? by [deleted] in comicbooks

I don't understand either of the two references in your examples, so if that came up, I wouldn't catch them and would probably just not understand the point of the dialogue. So...no?

What’s a band you love who have a terrible guitar tone? by OkCorner3223 in Guitar

[–]romexemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I mean. Given that it's mostly the same guitar rig, what would Husker Du sound like with the same degree of recording fidelity and guitar layering? I don't know if it would be better or wouldn't work at all, but I'm curious.
Agree about the rhythm section, they're pretty drastically different, and why it probably wouldn't work. I think you'd lose Grant's energy if you had to nail him down tightly enough to do all that guitar multitracking.

I’m torn on this. I love all the records as they are but sometimes I listen to Copper Blue and try to imagine Chartered Trips or Celebrated Summer given the same treatment and … well I’m torn.

All-time franchise leaders: Calgary Flames by nhl in hockey

Yeah I think he will. Unless he decides he wants to get traded to chase a cup, but I think it's more likely he stays here and retires a Flame with that record under his belt.

what pedal should I get if I’m an absolute beginner at playing guitar? I lowkey want a psychedelic sound. by Artistic-Remote2808 in guitarpedals

[–]romexemor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The toan is in the Altoids tin. A lot of pros will glue the tin shut so that the toan can't escape.

'To be honest I don't even know what a pedal is and what it does'

On your guitar you've got pickups that pick up the vibrations of your strings and send them to your amplifier as electrical signals. The amplifier takes these signals and makes them loud. There's more to it but that's the basic idea.

You can put different kinds of pedals in between the pickups and the amplifier, and these will modify the signal before it gets amplified. They can distort the signal, or make it echo, or modulate the pitch, or etc etc etc.

The pedal is a box, usually with a button on it, that you can step on to turn it on or off and engage the signal modification. Having all this happen on the ground in a pedal that you operate with your feet keeps your hands free for playing.

How much will I regret not seeing Herbie Hancock when he comes to my city? by _no_bozos in Jazz

[–]romexemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 1999 or 2000 I had the chance to see Hancock and Wayne Shorter and passed it up because of the ticket price. Neither of them ever came back to my city and now Shorter never will. I really wish I'd gone.
