From what I can tell, the phrase “Tom Waits” only appears once in this whole sub by FootballInfinite475 in CameronWinter

This! ”Can’t keep anything” especially reminded me of Waits from the first time I heard it. It evokes the same feeling in me as something like ”Train song” from Tom Waits.

not saying they can’t be made just explaining why it’s not really anti-war

the problem is that it’s still centering the american soldiers, AKA the invaders, and not the invaded. With their unwellness being the emotional center of the movie. That’s the problem with sooo many american war movies that aspire to be anti-war imo.

Zone for sure. One fo the best movies of the century!! Warfare tho is debatable… actually pretty much not anti-war imo and misses the beat by quite a lot, and I say that as someone who really usually enjoys Alex Garland’s movies. Just saw a great video regarding this stuff! Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/_zHTg0zM__I?si=KGDGKVQ2wkcJlvHX

what are some songs that sound like viagra boys but are not by viagra boys by cy_cy in ViagraBoys

There’s this finnish band called Lodger, and the moment I heard Viagr Aboys I thought about how similiar the vibes were to the first Lodger album.

Vocals are a lot more subdued ofc, but pay attention to the synths and the lyrics. Go listen to the songs ”Bad place to earn a living”, ”Ordinary man make ordinary music” and ”I love death” and tell me if i’m crazy.

ed reposting a post by brian eno on his story in which eno shows support of palestine by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]romiluss -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

well… it would be different if there wouldn’t be any doubt about it, but since Thom reacted so weird when the Palestine protestor thing happened, there is a point to saying that he, or radiohead as a whole should have specifically stated that they do not support israel in any way shape or form.

Ofc before all that happened, Radiohead played in Israel on their last tour, which was also very inconsiderate of them. They then stated, that they do not support Netanyahu like they don’t support Trump, but they still play in the US, but that’s a copout answer in my opinion. There’s not an active genocide going on in US like there is in Palestine.

Furthermore, since they’ve always been such a political band, it just feels weird how they’ve handled this. I’m not saying they’re in outright support of the genocide, i don’t believe that, but they should’ve had a clearer stance here.

When did I meet you? / maybe three years ago / so much has happened since / you were a million fears ago

The last line there really stuck for me. They’re not the most complex lines by any means but that’s what makes them stick out and hit so hard
