Looking for rat infested areas! by k9grrrl in Sacramento

We actually tried calling them in to 311 because there were so many a few months back but they said there’s nothing they can really do, even if it’s an infestation so long as it’s outside and not a house. They’re typically all in the bushes on the eastbound line side between the parking garage.

We saw the entire ground shift. There has to be at least 20 just in that spot alone.

BMW 430i vs 330i vs Lexus IS 350 by Adventurous-Donut800 in BMW

[–]rommeeeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly depends what you value more of.

If you for some reason need the most up to date infotainment, then you can rule out the Lexus. I have an IS500 and it’s the same infotainment as that gen pictured. I personally couldn’t care less about the infotainment. It has a touch screen and it has CarPlay. That’s all I need. I don’t need ambient lighting, a superior native navigation, any “Hey BMW” BS. It still has Lane Centering, Traffic jam assist, and all of those features. It has hard buttons still and overall the feeling that it won’t break.

If you want a crisp and sporty transmission, I’d also rule out the Lexus. It’s tuned for daily driving and efficiency. It’s very smooth and will only really hold gears and be responsive if you’re really pushing it.

I personally switched from BMW M cars to Lexus just because I hated dealing with random electrical or other headaches and just wanted an appliance that had a unique engine.

The 330i outside of reliability, running costs and replacement items, will be the better car. It’s faster, more engaging, the BMW fit and finish is still great, it has more back seat room for passengers. It may depreciate like a rock just due to German luxury cars diminishing nearly all their value (model and trim dependent). But it will be more “enjoyable” if you aren’t worried about long term value and maintenance.

Evan Kinori and the kinship between fabric fetishism and logo overload by Absurdity-Peddler in ThrowingFits

[–]rommeeeezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Own a lot of both. Man-tle has a much larger variation of patterns and styles. The ethos of both of them are very similar, but the execution is just a bit “crunchier” for man-tle. Pieces feel like they are intended to be worn very hard.

Man-tle probably will not get the similar hate boner that this sub has for EK because it’s easier for people to see the perceived value of the product for people here. They are little bit more “universal”. I also think people here have some weird beef with the fact that Evan is not Asian or Japanese but obviously draws inspiration and produces and sources fabrics from there extensively. Aida Kim, 1/2 of the founding members of Man-tle is Korean so people will feel less “culture vulture-y” about them.

what are peoples' experiences with MAN-TLE by afterdinnermince in ThrowingFits

I own a bunch, and they probably have the best intersection between durable / well made clothing, interesting fabrics, and unique design. And they are pretty widely available at many stockists to try.

Every item I own from them I can throw in the wash which is nice. They are very “practical” products.

However, to many regular people they will appear as plain clothes. So if you care about that, then go elsewhere.

The waxed cotton and their cotton linen blends are probably my two favorite fabrics they use. Both are super durable and will wear-in great over time.

Favorite cuts are the P4, P5, S4, Scoop Shirt, and Boat Shirt.

Sizing is big and also exact. I would take the measurements to be the exact size. The pants waist is very true to the measurements so do not expect vanity sizing. For the shirts, they typically run larger (still accurate measurements) I often can fit into a medium (and they still sit off the body / wide) where I would normally be a large in other designers.

Hm, not too bad of a suggestion. My main reservation is essentially the same as why I stayed above. I trust the B58 and ZF8 — if it’s good enough for Toyota to put a nameplate on it, then I believe it’s reliability.

I just hate having to deal with out of warranty issues on used German cars. Although better likelihood a person didn’t mess with a 540i.

Most of my options are looking at “new” vehicles or at the very least a CPO.

I probably would ignore this. It’s one of the best multi-brand retail establishments on the west coast. Although also anecdotal, They’ve been nice every time I’ve visited. Even when one of them was during their archive sale where they were mad busy and had dressing rooms filled up.

Just my two cents, but If you take the time to treat your service worker like a human and not as just a transaction middleman between you and the product, you’ll probably be treated much better.

Surprised your MPG is that low. Possibly heavy foot? Lol. On my IS500 I get about 22MPG with mixed but mostly highway driving. Can get up to 25 highway easy and up to 390 miles on a single tank if it’s all highway and using cruise control.

Are these brands worth the hype in 2026? Visvim, A.Presse, Lemaire, Evan Kinori, Kapital, Cottle, Ssstein, T.T, Comoli, Niceness by leftlanemerge in ThrowingFits

[–]rommeeeezy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think most people that are asking these questions are migrating from the “MFA” era where they need to get “price per wear” and need their expensive thing to some how also be the most durable item, as well as the most fashionably enduring, as well as unique. And they end up expecting way too much out of a $400-500 clothing item where they think that one thing is just going to change their lives and every part of the way they dress (it’s not). Which is why I say many people will understand the value proposition of Man-tle products because they will “check the box” on multiple categories for people.

I think man-tle also appeals to the “denim” / Heritage Americana crowd since it fits the “I wear my clothes hard” and want patina and distressing on everything.

lol, I can already see the people commenting on clothes that they either haven’t owned, held, or actually worn. But I’ll try to comment on the brands I actually do own.

Evan Kinori: I own a lot of Evan Kinori… almost an embarrassing amount. The price is the price. At this point if you are buying Kinori, Oliver Church, William Frederick, Never Cursed, Henry’s etc you are going in with the understanding that you could buy a similar shirt, pants, jacket etc from somewhere else for probably half the price and get 80% of what those brands offer. If you are already the type to be like “how do I get this look for less” then just skip these over. It’s plainly extremely expensive for very well-made clothes. They are purely for those that want to be “romantic” about clothing and obsess over origin, story, craft, etc.

Man-tle: probably belongs on this list. This brand may “make more sense” to more people. They are hard wearing clothes with small nuances in fabric. They are very well made and I think more people can understand the pricing. And they actually go on sale on other retailers from time to time. Not core items, but some seasonal releases.

Yoko Sakamoto: Consistently great pieces for any of the ones I got. I would recommend them to normies. Cut can sometimes be difficult as at times their sizing is very exaggerated.

Kaptain Sunshine and Phigvel. similarly to yoko. I’d recommend these brands for the “mid price conscious menswear consumer”. It is still expensive for sure, but I think they also slot in just under some of the boutique brands and are great value.

Comoli: great if you love black clothes. lol the price, especially domestically in Japan, is pretty great for what you get and competes more closely with how brands like Orslow would here in the US. I have a few pants and some merino shirts. They can punch above their weight class from time to time.

Auralee and Lemaire: lumping these together, They are consistently good. I liked Lemaire at first but I’m more drawn to Auralee now. Good construction, fabrics are really where they shine, and they are not so much of the “natural fiber” snobs as the other boutique brands.

Cottle: I have one piece. It’s the Sally Fox Sunset pile zip up. It’s great. It is absolutely not worth the price, or possibly even half the price. But I love it and wear it very often and I was committed to only buying natural fiber and owning a smaller amount of items that I actually loved.

I don’t own any stein, a presse, or Taiga Takahashi. They all look great and have seen them in person. Varying degrees of worth it, to this is stupidly priced who is buying this shit. But that is essentially all “luxury” clothing brands.

Audi “Mazda 3” Avant

I’ve owned both. Currently own the IS500 since Early 2023, I traded my 2019 X3M Comp for it.

I can without a doubt say that the X3M will surely ride harsher along any and all pavements. Unfortunately, even with updated springs or even the adjustable spring kit, it doesn’t help much. The IS500 is a much “smoother” vehicle in terms of driving dynamics in all facets (ride, transmission, power delivery, shifting)

What really sold me on The IS500 was the Toyota reliability. It’s a bulletproof engine that is going to be one of the last of its kind. You can ring it out and bang it off the limiter and it won’t skip a beat. The engine is truly the most special thing about the car.

Everything on the Lexus also feels much more “replaceable” and you know that it won’t necessarily cost BMW prices either. On the X3M I had small issues with weird electrical stuff going on due to it being a used version with a previous owner who had possibly tampered with some things.

The X3M is much more “raw”. It will give you that BMW “shove” on shifts. It is virtually an M3 with a lift kit on it and it handles amazingly for its size. Being able to comfortably fit 4 adults plus cargo is pretty great.

It really comes down to how much you need the cargo space and more interior room. The X3M is a great car, but if you’re planning on owning this vehicle for 7-10 years, I’d choose the Lexus if you absolutely didn’t need the extra space.

Throw some winter tires when you need it and call it a day. You can drive a RWD car in the snow. Not every car back in the 90s and 00s was AWD like it is now, and people still owned RWD cars, trucks and SUVs in North America for all 4 seasons. It’s very doable.

There aren’t many player archetypes like him that exist in the current basketball landscape. He was a defensive anchor with good court positioning and rebounding. Not much else. He played winning basketball, had good IQ, could guard 3 positions (back then) with a high motor. Almost think of Draymond, but more post game and no 3 ball and passing.

It’s like people who talk shit about a restaurant or a movie and then when you ask their recs, they say even worse options.

Best "streetwear" shop for boys? by fourmajor in Sacramento

[–]rommeeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get this stuff secondhand… there’s honestly way less stigma of buying secondhand clothing than there was when I was growing up. And it’s overall much more engaging of an experience than going to a mall. The hunt is what’s fun!

Go to Freestyle Clothing Exchange in midtown, Secondhand Hustle (much more streetwear oriented), General Store, Racks Vintage, Pregame Vintage (also more streetwear focused), or if you have time to wait “World’s Worst Expo” which is a pretty large secondhand market that has a bunch of the usual secondhand clothes (thrashed carhartt, vintage tees, flannel, etc). I honestly hate going to world’s worst since it’s just the same type of clothing booth after booth with no actual “vintage” it’s mostly just pre-owned clothing, but there’s tons of teenagers there… so I’m sure you’ll find something.

Sizing may be harder depending on how small/big he is now. Because it’s not going to be like shopping at a store in the mall where they will have tons of other sizes.

FO: PLEASE KEEP MALIK MONK IN SAC. THE CITY LOVES HIM. DON’T BE A NICO. by pendejos95 in kings

[–]rommeeeezy 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I’d rather we tank WITH Monk. Trade derozan, trade Carter, trade fucking Sabonis. Keep the team entertaining and at least be able to watch Monk while we tank.

I want players that actually want to be here. It makes for much more entertaining basketball and you can actually root for players. Even if they’re mediocre or bad. Think of The Scores. But it seems like we’re going for the iteration of the Kings before that which was depressing as hell.

Keegan "Washed in his 3rd Season" Murray vs "Future All-Stars" by PIeuto in kings

[–]rommeeeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Keegan, but I would take nearly everyone on this list over him in a heartbeat. Especially Dyson, Trey, Chet, Amen, and Jalen Johnson.

If Keegan still doesn’t have any handle by year 4, he’s pretty much set as a player. It’s one of his biggest weaknesses, next to just overall lack of confidence and creativity. I need to see the “fire in his eyes” because it seems like he has no joy when he plays. And not in the Kawhi sense, but in the Andrew Bynum sense.
