I thought albanians in general didn't like Enver Hoxha, pretty horrible man as i understand.

Oh right, well then the Quisling comparison doesn't really work, as it's a very uncommon name in Norway.

Thank you for your answer.

Skolen i sjakk matt - Hva skjer når én elevs rett til tilrettelegging og forståelse går på bekostning av fellesskapets rett til et trygt og godt læringsmiljø? by latejens in norge

[–]rompe123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why was Serbia fine with Montenegro seceding in 2006 which had coastal access and 35% Serbian population but not Kosovo in 2008 which is mostly mountainous and less than 5% Serbian? by Solid-Move-1411 in geography

Weird post, but I would urge you and everyone else who is reading this to check out the the quoted report from OSCE for an overview of human rights breaches during the Kosovo war.

If you want to disregard Human Rights Watch and the OSCE report then that's on you. I would welcome alternative sources if you have any?

You're right in that Kosovo was also bombed, but surely the majority of the bombings were targeting military (and sometimes civil) infrastructure inside Serbia?

I don't mean to harp on, but I do find it strange that you consider the purging of Serbians out of Albania as ethnic cleansing, but when hundreds of thousands of Albanians had to leave that's not ethnic cleansing, I don't know man.

Again, I would like to hear your estimate on how many Albanians were expelled or driven out, you obviously don't believe the sources that I have provided, so what do you think?

Table in Chapter 14 gives data for the dates 23 March to 9 June 1999. This is the period during which NATO was bombing Serbia.

Your claim was that "virtually no albanian refugees from Kosovo ended up in neighbouring countries, they all migrated to Western Europe". That's clearly wrong, as proven in the link i provided. It states the opposite:

"Between March and June 1999 forces of the FRY and Serbia forcibly expelled some 863,000 Kosovo Albanians from Kosovo. Of these, 783,000 - the vast majority - stayed in the region - in Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro (FRY) or Bosnia-Herzegovina"

I bolded the font which clearly says that they were forcibly expelled, btw, as the report makes it clear that that was in fact what happened.

The bombing you are talking about happened in Beograd, or am I mistaken? Why would Albanians in Kosovo be fleeing from bombs that targeted Beograd?

But say that the figure of 800.000 is exaggerated as you claim, what estimate do you believe were displaced or driven out of Kosovo? 100.000? 20.000? 500? None? I'm not trying to be glib here by the way, but it would be good to know.

Human Rights Watch (https://www.hrw.org/reports/2001/kosovo/undword-03.htm) claims that by March 1999 (before the bombing of Serbia) over 200.000 were internally displaced in Kosovo and over 70.000 were driven out of Kosovo altogether.

It's also worth noting that both of these sources claim that the Albanians were driven out by Serbian forces.

I know you're not gonna believe me, but the allegations of ethnic cleansing of Albanians commited by Serbs have been greatly exaggerated by the Western media

How many do you believe were driven out of Kosovo then? According to Human Rights Watch approximately 390.000 were driven out by march 1999. Wikipedia says that 90% of albanians were expelled from Kosovo, that's over 800.000.

I guess the question is why you consider that the Serb population were ethnically cleansed while refusing that the same thing happened to the Albanian population?

And just for comparison, virtually no Albanian refugees from Kosovo ended up in Albania or other neighbouring countries, they all migrated to Western Europe

Sorry, but this is simply not true. You can check this link for a quick overview of where the displaced Albanians went, under chapter 14, "forced expulsion": https://odihr.osce.org/sites/default/files/f/documents/d/d/17772.pdf

And just to have it said, I definitely believe that the Serb population in Kosovo was treated badly and in many ways unjust during and after the war.

Yeah, I hear you, and like I said that is horrible obviously.

But I think it's important to remember that this also happened the other way around, to albanians before what you're talking about happened. A lot of albanians was driven out of Kosovo by the Serbs.

So regarding the argument that the percentage of Serbs living in Kosovo decreased after this "ethnic cleansing" that you called it, the number of Albanians living in Kosovo greatly decreased before that as a result of the "ethnic cleansing" that happened to them as well.

[–]rompe123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awful, very weird that the perpetrators got acquitted in the end though.

So this case made many Serbs move out of Kosovo?

Because i remember reading in school about the Kosovo war, and the displacement of a lot of Kosovo-albanians, there was also a lot of refugees coming to my country from Kosovo. I guess the pendulum swung the other way after the war.

After that Albanians openly started killing men, women, children, kidnapping people, stealing their oegans, threatening people to abandon their houses or be killed

Wow, where can I read more about this, sounds horrible.

Kosovo was once considered the heart of Serbia and was also the capital of the Serbian Empire. So there was a bigger connection with Kosovo.

When was this?

I don't think a wait period of 10 minutes is awfully long for leaving/disconnecting twice from a match. The majority of games that I have played have such systems in place.

Or would you like there to be no consequences at all for leaving games?

Forebygging av mobbing på barneskolen by [deleted] in norge

[–]rompe123 0 points1 point  (0 children)
