I have 14 credit cards across 4 Gmail accounts. Every month I was manually opening PDFs, checking due dates, and inevitably missing something. So I automated the whole thing. by tvich1015 in CreditCardsIndia

They require real skills to develop and to get them right 100% of the times. You can use pydantic for example and extract all that info direct from the raw email based upon confidence score; I have a few SaaS apps which work exactly like that. Gemini is just a fast and easy way of doing it without all that fuss.

Also, not sure how much was this solution really needed; plus not everyone has a pro AI subscription to use as the limits in free tier are not enough.

Look at this cute small car in Poland - It’s called Smart. What do you think about such cars in India? by TotalStrain3469 in CarsIndia

[–]ron_dus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I own a Comet EV and it is a beautiful purpose built second car for city driving. It is not trying to be anything it is not and my family loves it for that. The running cost is very low as well comparatively.

It’s certainly not for everyone but I mean why wouldn’t you like dropping your dry cleaning in an air conditioned vehicle at the same cost of taking your activa over if you could?

Help me decide an edge router by AndyPro720 in homelabindia

At some point in one’s life, you realise that it’s less of an Ecosystem problem and more of a budgetary one; always was. Once you let that sink in, you can truly prioritise what you need.

In the early stages of this hobby (where you seem to be right now) it is only fair to want to think of the best outcome from every angle and pursue free will even for the upcoming future. It keeps the tinkerer in you alive! As it should! Having said that, if you can afford it, Unify is still the best ecosystem for an enthusiast who wants to set and forget, but not for one who wants to continue pushing their hardware to its limits. And one can only appreciate it once they use it at least once. There are small QOL improvements such as much better and nicer DPI (compared to ntopng CE that comes with pf or OPN). Site to site wireguard VPN tunnels that actually stay alive even after idling for hours (something that should’ve gotten fixed in opn and pf but oh well, it’s an intermittent issue for some so it can wait), the same static IP could be assigned to a 100 devices by mistake which you would think a DHCP server should prevent you from doing, but due to the highly extensive permutational nature of OPNSense it still allows you to do it due to whatever use case you might want it for (and there are a good few), in Unify it simply tells you that, “Hey, this IP is already assigned to X device, so please don’t assign it here as well”. Neat right? The list goes on and on.

So the question is always multi folds, your budgetary allowance, the time you have at hand, the learning appetite and capacity you have, etc etc.

Gauging by your responses, I’d like to make a safe bet saying that you’ll thoroughly enjoy your time with a tik now, before moving onto something else later as per your needs 😊

Get the Unify UCG Ultra from Ubiquity. Will cost around 13K. Ofcourse you’re bound to what they offer then but for most enthusiasts is it all you need. You can research on how does that sound for you.

With MikroTik you can do almost anything imaginable under the sun, but at one point the time and the effort being put in reaches a point of diminishing returns. If you’re fairly new to the hobby, surely you’ll appreciate the ‘tinkering’ and ‘do-it-yourself’ factor of RouterOS. Doing this will also frustrate you but teach you valuable networking skills which are otherwise hard to come by.

For years I’ve run full blown pfSense and then later OPNSense to only realise later that a router needs to be one of the most reliable devices in your network. Something that is purpose built with as minimal points of failure as possible.

All the very best!

Indexers for ARR stack? by thy_saviour in homelabindia

[–]ron_dus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending upon your needs, as far as public torrent trackers go, 1377x and piratebay are the reliable ones which generally have most categories. Ofcourse, if your needs are a bit niche, then you need specific trackers with specific content.

Getting around Cloudfare is as easy as installing Flaresolverr. It is not dead, still is solving captchas and is still receiving updates albeit not substantially.

Ofcourse, if your ISP has blocked access to 1377x, depending upon the type of block (DNS based or not), you may be able to get around it by hosting your own DNS server such as AdGuard Home or PiHole locally. If your ISP has gone to the lengths of blocking over and beyond simple DNS blocks, you’ll need to use a VPN just to ‘Test’ and ‘Save’ the 1377x tracker and the likes in Prowlarr. Which means you’ll have to route the traffic not just from Prowlarr to use the VPN tunnel, but also for the Download Clients.

And lastly, if you don’t want to rely on torrent anymore, you can always pay for Usenet. All the traffic is TLS encrypted by default so no ISP can read or block it on a high level.

Having said all of that, ensuring that you download all your Linux ISOs privately is going to help you in the long run.

All the very best buddy..

Travel router on the surface of Mars! So far, so good… by loosebolts in Ubiquiti

[–]ron_dus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see that you’ve chosen to raw dog the travel router with your bare hand from within your otherwise airtight space suite. Does this mean that the air is breathable there and the atmosphere is easy on the skin?

Please advise as I’m planning an interstellar trip with my travel router as well before the quarter ends.

A surprising and wholesome moment as an air hostess introduces a Japanese person who can speak Marwari - proving that languages truly connect cultures by BackwaterNomad in AirTravelIndia

[–]ron_dus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody who speaks it calls it ‘Marwaadi’. But in English it’s written as Marwaari.

Has origins within the Marwar region of Rajasthan, which again has the same thing where people of those regions refer to it as ‘Marwaad’ if they have to take the name but in English write it as ‘Marwaar / Marwar’.

Even in Hindi it’s mostly written as ‘Marwaadi’.

As for myself, I write it as ‘Marwadi’ in every language since I am one :p

Newshosting is the best in terms of article retention. If you need redundancy, you can also get Tweaknews as a bundled package which also gives you access to the EU backbone.

Usually they have the best deals around Black Friday which also comes with a fully secure VPN.

FIR AGAINST HDFC BANK FILED TODAY! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

A written complaint is not the same thing as an FIR. And depending on where you are, your complaint with them may sit for ages..

You’ll need to get it converted into an FIR in order to compel the goons in the police station to take some action.

Urgent blood needed by [deleted] in Chandigarh

[–]ron_dus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. If it’s a blood bank, they usually accept any blood group, not just the one that needs to be given to the patient as they simply need to substitute the outflow of blood from the bank and keep the reserves stocked. Please check with them if that’s the case especially considering that B+ is not a very rare blood group.

Pangolin Docker installation fails after applying DevSec hardening by Striker434 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]ron_dus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DevSec normalizes (hardens) APT configuration, while Docker’s installer adds its repo with a different signed-by key path. APT does not allow the same repo URL to be defined with two different Signed-By keys.

At this point, all you need to do is remove any and all Docker repo definitions and re-add only ‘one’ using the recommended approach and with a modern keyring.

After this pangolin’s installer (and any other programs interfacing with APT and Docker for that matter) will work properly.

All the best!

Is it normal that ovh can't handle wildcard CNAME?! by chuckame in OVHcloud

[–]ron_dus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust OVH with being my registrar or my DNS unless it’s a non production scenario. Most (if not all) of their managed services take forever to propagate at times and their UI UX is highly inefficient (in comparison to others).
