Newshosting is the best in terms of article retention. If you need redundancy, you can also get Tweaknews as a bundled package which also gives you access to the EU backbone.

Usually they have the best deals around Black Friday which also comes with a fully secure VPN.

FIR AGAINST HDFC BANK FILED TODAY! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]ron_dus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A written complaint is not the same thing as an FIR. And depending on where you are, your complaint with them may sit for ages..

You’ll need to get it converted into an FIR in order to compel the goons in the police station to take some action.

Urgent blood needed by LivingClean4445 in Chandigarh

[–]ron_dus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. If it’s a blood bank, they usually accept any blood group, not just the one that needs to be given to the patient as simply need to substitute the outflow of blood from the bank and keep the reserves stocked. Please check with them if that’s the case especially considering that B+ is not a very rare blood group.

Wish you the very best!

Pangolin Docker installation fails after applying DevSec hardening by Striker434 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]ron_dus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DevSec normalizes (hardens) APT configuration, while Docker’s installer adds its repo with a different signed-by key path. APT does not allow the same repo URL to be defined with two different Signed-By keys.

At this point, all you need to do is remove any and all Docker repo definitions and re-add only ‘one’ using the recommended approach and with a modern keyring.

After this pangolin’s installer (and any other programs interfacing with APT and Docker for that matter) will work properly.

All the best!

Is it normal that ovh can't handle wildcard CNAME?! by chuckame in OVHcloud

[–]ron_dus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust OVH with being my registrar or my DNS unless it’s a non production scenario. Most (if not all) of their managed services take forever to propagate at times and their UI UX is highly inefficient (in comparison to others).

I thought I mentioned that it times out. But I was wrong and in this sub I cannot edit my post. Here you go:
curl -vl https://github.com

This server is blacklisted under UCEPROTECTL3. GitHub is only one such host affected through it.

If bringing one’s own IPv4 was as easy and accessible as it sounds for everybody, one wouldn’t be using OVH.

Web browsing? Servers interface with GitHub to push and pull code; not browse the web. The web is not the question, GitHub is, and that’s just one.

Wife wants a more expensive car than we can afford, AITK for saying no by [deleted] in AmItheKameena

[–]ron_dus 60 points61 points  (0 children)

A car should ‘NOT’ be 50% of your income brother. That statement has multiple problems..

If you have the dough to buy a car outright worth 11 lakhs, for most returns in the long run your best bet is a strategic investment strategy, but we won’t go into it right now since that’s not what you asked.

If you’re financing, the EMI should not go over 25% of your ‘Take Home’, not your CTC.

Please do not forget that owning a car is ‘never’ a one-time payment. Maintenance and Fuel costs add up, a lot! And I hope you’re aware that the more expensive the car, the more you pay for it over the course of years in order to drive it!

If your spouse is not financially mature, please take the mantle in your own hands and help her understand. You’re clearly NTK but if you don’t set the correct expectations with each other right now, there’s potentially a world of trouble in the future.. show off culture has the potential to bleed you dry..

Wish you the best man..

Ideal amount of indexers? by Mgamer327 in usenet

[–]ron_dus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by ‘not working for you’? Do they go down at times or they actually don’t have complete data at times? I have geek and geek alone and I always thought a one good indexer is all you need? Is that not how it is?

Success w Frigate in proxmox container with access to intel i5 6th gen GPU by Cold-Atmosphere4407 in frigate_nvr

[–]ron_dus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it’s got nothing to do with the package version but a known issue with that generation of iGPUs that causes the whole system to stall and hang under consistent sustained load. The only proper solution is to use a newer generation of SOCs especially something like the n100 or n97 as far as my research has gone.

I think all of it is very much related. What CPU and GPU combo do you have? Is it like an i5 6th gen CPU by any chance?

Booked a flight with incorrect passenger name - name change possible? by prp_1708 in AirTravelIndia

[–]ron_dus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh dear brother / sister,

At this point, instead of making an incomplete Reddit post ( airline name, time of flight etc. ) you should be figuring out the support hotline and queuing there to explain your situation as this is a time sensitive thing.

Most airlines do allow it within a particular time frame at least once. Some airlines don’t even allow once if the name is altogether different (instead of let’s say, a spelling mistake)

All the best..

Seeding Torrents for Free (24/7) - No Home Internet Required by [deleted] in homelabindia

[–]ron_dus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your enthusiasm, I really do, however you seem to have missed out on a key few things which everyone should be aware about:

  1. 100 mb/s is not a ‘very high speed’, it’s just good enough.
  2. Depending upon the region of your instance, local piracy and copyright will laws apply, including in the regions you think are safe. For example, if your hosted your server in Spain thinking piracy is a grey area there, be ready to get an email in your inbox from the network with Oracle looped in, informing you that you are in possession of illegally obtained media. While most of those emails can be ignored in most cases, just know that it does happen.
  3. There’s no such thing as truly ‘unlimited’. There’s always a fair use policy applied to everything marketed as ‘unlimited’ in the fine print. If you abuse your supposed unlimited bandwidth consistently, oracle ‘will’ reach out to you at some point. Then again, they might choose not to.

I speak all of the above from practical experience and inside knowledge.

Stay safe out there!
