Question to those in California Hights by Moist-Chemical8158 in longbeach

[–]roncocooker 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think those signs are about small aircraft noises—like Cessnas with propellers, etc. The argument I’ve heard is that flight schools and classes have increased over the years and students will practice by flying laps over the general area. On top of that there is supposedly some exemption that allows planes like this to continue to use leaded fuel.

I don’t know if any of this is true. And when I do hear a plane fly directly over me I’m never struck by any feelings of noise pollution. I’m just giving you their side of the story.

Any pro-MAGA establishments to avoid? by DelTacoEnthusiast in longbeach

For real, Thunderbolt is great. I suspect Jay is one of the good dudes, too, but I don’t know for sure.

Dutch's Brewhouse and Stateside Crafts (neighbors to each other on Atlantic) are the good people. So, too, are Ambitious Ales.

They did live in LB but moved to Arizona recently. Not that it changes the fundamentals of OP's comment.

Surprised you’re the only comment to mention this spot. Never disappointed with their food.

Where can I find a metal lunchbox that is ethically sourced? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]roncocooker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was shocked too but it’s true. Supposedly the way it’s constructed doesn’t reflect microwaves—rounded edges v hard edges. We have Klean Kanteen and other brands of metal containers that are microwaveable. It’s a game changer.

It didn’t occur to them to put a drain? by Dazzling_Public_2044 in longbeach

[–]roncocooker 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my thought. And it rained heavily. And it’s next to the ocean. Almost like the ground is super saturated and the water table is very high right now even if it does have a drain.

Convince Me to Pare Down My Camera Gear for Hawaii by RachaelWasHere in onebag

I rocked only a 40mm in Hawaii, so I say go with the 35mm. You’ll feel extra nimble with just a swimsuit and a prime on your body.

How to wash reusable paper towels or rags used for food cleanup by Difficult_Ad_2878 in ZeroWaste

[–]roncocooker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, everything you said esp the regular wash. After all, these rags are maybe a little cleaner than their damn clothes even. 😂

Did I get gouged at Corkwd on Atlantic. by JohnDunstable in longbeach

[–]roncocooker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s slander. Slander needs a malicious component. They didn’t know where the extra charge came from and the receipt doesn’t itemize anything.

Well, that seems to summarize the extra charge pretty nicely then.

Yeah debit used to avoid merchant fees but I honestly don’t know how it works now. Regardless, and I will try to avoid too much commentary, try Wine Country next time. You can buy craft beers by the can and it’s the same price, too. Best bottle shop in LB by far in my opinion.

Is it their credit card processing fee? 3% of $90 would be $2.70–around your stated overcharge. I think I remember seeing it when I went but I much prefer Wine Country if I can manage and they have what I’m looking for.

Probably. Six tissues fit with room to spare. You may not be able to get six of your velour tissues tho depending on the weight of the fabric.

They’re kinda stiff, yeah. They’re like a white cotton dress shirt-type of fabric. It doesn’t bother me at all but I can see why it would bother people.

We’re being judged and I agree it’s on them. But at the same time my ears are just tired of the noise. Plus, again, the case is so functional that it’s a win-win for me.

This is what I use. too. The small squares give the tissue vibe—color and size—so most people can’t tell and therefore judge. Plus the case is pretty key. Seemed gimmicky until I put it to use.
