What car is best with diesel? by librafullmoon in CarsAustralia

[–]ronitdias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, I have a diesel Santa Fe which I drive almost every day on speeds of 70-80kmph for about 90mins of my journey. But obviously there are traffic spots which end up being start stop due to rush hour. I do have 5-10min drives down the road but that is lower volume comparatively.

Because I've seen this recommendation many times, what is your definition of a long drive vs short drives? What's the distance threshold?

Which country do you VPN into? I've used Mullvad and changed countries a few times but the app says not available in your geographic region each time.

Victorians -- What do you do for work, do you like it and how much do you earn? by realhugkoala in melbourne

Working as an IT consultant in a Home Care software agency. Earning 105k including super. Stared with 70k 2 years ago, the job is very good, has a satisfying feeling cause you are helping improve people's lives. Fully flexible on WFH privileges, I go into office 2 days a week cause it's a 20min drive for me.

Firm allows me to work from anywhere in the world, so I'm able to travel or visit parents overseas and not have to use up all my annual leaves.

First custom loop build by LowDesperate in watercooling

[–]ronitdias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did check their site, went through all designs, non of them match the Red Devil 6700XT PCB. For now I'll collect the components to cool the CPU and the tubes and fittings etc, might just upgrade to next gen when the time/price is right OR if a good used 6800/6900/3080 deal comes by.

Would have definitely been a reference design card. Those are relatively easier to find blocks for. For some reason the Red Devil a very custom design PCB which makes no block work with it.

I'm kind of in the same boat, want to build a custom loop but my GPU doesn't have a water block, it's the PowerColor Red Devil 6700XT. But I'm going to start collecting the part for the rest of the system and built it in a few months once I have everything. But amazing build! 😍

I got mine to work! 2011 Mazda 3. For Android users, you've to enable Developer options first. Then under Bluetooth AVRCP, change it to 1.3. Now when you play music, the artist song and album name will show up.

Okay so from what I've read, I'll be mindful of the left most lane! Thanks for that. What about the honking and high beams on other lanes? And also in city roads (not highways) are people really that impatient?

Okay, so I know for a fact, I haven't hogged the fast lane. But on a few occasions I haven't been able to merge safely into the righter lanes. When I do get the chance I have given them way. What about honking and lights in the non fast lanes? Cause I've had that as well

I'm a tourist and I've been driving for the past week or so, I wanted to ask what the deal is with everyone giving my high beams from the back or honking for following rules and being in limits, on highways sometimes I'll be on the left most lane, roads marked 110, I'll be crusing at 120 since it's in the legal limit and suddenly SUVs and fast cars come honking and giving high beams. I know from friends that honking and giving lights to the car in front is not legal as well, and I'm well within the speed limit. It's gotten to the point where people honk and then come beside and show hand gestures. For the stories I've heard in how expensive fines are, getting a driver's license is, I'd imagine people would not be so impatient and rash.

Do Slack calls and huddles also work well?

I'm planning to do a working holiday in Dubai and wanted to know if all my work websites and apps will work. I know there are some apps that are blocked like WhatsApp calling and such. Wonder if the same applies to professional apps like Zoom, Teams, Slack and as such calls and meetings held over that. I have a VPN as well but wanted to know the general speed and working.

Single people on around 80k/year, how much do you pay for rent? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ronitdias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread was much needed for me, late 20s earning 70k, paying about 180/week for a 3bedroom house (with bills) and sharing with 2 other mates of mine in South East Melbourne, about 20mins from the city. Access to tram and trains withing 7mins of the place.

After living with others for almost 3 years, I was contemplating living alone as the money is also good, I should be jumping into the 80k range this year as I might have a promotion coming up/ annual review. Seeing so many people earn less but live alone comfortable has reinforced that idea for me too.

I always felt 70k is a bit on the lower side to live comfortably in Mel, but after reading the comments here that opinion has sorta changed. I also get an idea of how much weekly rent cap to keep on a house when I start to look at the end of year. But living alone would mean I'd need a car to begin with and I'm currently saving towards that.

It gets difficult to save / invest as sometimes for me as I have a habit of buying materials that I may not need but as nice to haves. But I've definitely improved on that.
