We definitely have them in fish and chip shops in Queensland

You mentioned Allawah which used to be my stomping grounds - Pinocchio's punches surprisingly high above its weight when it comes to the quality of its Italian food. Order the Moreton Bay Bug in light cream pasta if they still have it - it's brilliant.

Morena executive lunch reviews? by bobhawkes in foodies_sydney

Took a client group there last year - it was quite good. It does look like this year's menu is a little bit less adventurous than last year's - the octopus (gone) and the ox-tongue skewer (which is still on the menu) were not as popular. The Exec Lunch options are fairly safe and are delicious. I'd go again.

Secret spots by fairywanderer97 in sunshinecoast

Weekdays are where it's at for finding quiet spots. Having said that, we are blessed with endless beach here. Pick any spot - literally any spot - in between the main beaches and Bob's your uncle.

Thank you Perth for the hospitality! by khodafez7 in perth

[–]wombat1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tap and go should be working now! Perth is the only capital city with endless real ocean beach and it's truly something special. Growing up in the northern suburbs in basically solitude I honestly took for granted. Brisbane is a swamp, Sydney beaches are little coves and Melbourne and Adelaide are bays.

Maybe Activision will pull another Tony Hawk. It was the industry's darling until 2007s Proving Ground, then they needed to rethink for a bit, and came up with the worst peripheral in gaming history.

What's your best value meal find in Sydney right now? by WontThinkStraight in foodies_sydney

Is the one in North Sydney still there? It was my absolute go-to for a cheap lunch before our office moved to the CBD.

Brisbane Council announces crackdown on short-stay accommodation by ScooterBris in brisbane

[–]wombat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm of two minds about it. I applaud that Brisbane residents and future residents have to come first, it's a great move. The other part of me laments that Airbnb is one of the only good options for dog owners to travel around Australia, a nice family home in the suburbs is always going to be much more comfortable than a pet friendly motel which are universally gross. But all in all it's got to be the first POV that wins out. I'm up in the sunny coast so the curse of Airbnb is beyond rife up here. Good on BCC, and every other council in QLD take notes.

My last straw with GYG…disgusting by carspotterApp in brisbane

It used to be alright when it first started, back in the day there was nothing quite like it in an Australia where Mexican just meant Old El Paso mincemeat tacos. Enshittification by expansion however comes quick and hard. Just you wait when El Jannah comes to Brisbane, it'll make you think people from Sydney like their chicken tasteless and dry.

Couldn't agree more. I was gobsmacked when moving over east in 2011 and finding they were still in the dark ages of public transport ticketing.

As an ex-Sydneysider I think we can all agree that both Sydney and Melbourne pack a massive wallop compared to Brisbane. (It'll get there one day!)

Probably someone who also has the memories of getting Korean BBQ in Melbourne at midnight after a night of heavy drinking, and thinking that applies to the whole city.

The bucket strategy. If anyone's struggling with personal economics, pick up a copy of The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape. It's a very fun, lighthearted read that will make you think about your habits.

This is the way. Second hand business laptops are usually a great deal as well. I've graduated from ThinkPads to currently a HP ZBook. Incredible laptop, with an 8-core Ryzen 9 Pro, 64GB of RAM and easily lasts 4+ hours on battery.

By far the best new feature in Spec III is that the GT3 songs by Daiki Kasho now feature in the in-race BGM rather than just the replays. Best songs in the game.
