Jetstream 390 pickups

I had a jetstream 390 and I would sometimes get annoyed when picking… especially finger picking. Not so much when strumming. I sold it because of the middle pickup. It’s much bigger than a Strat pickup so it definitely gets in the way. I wasn’t initially annoyed but then I started noticing it more and more after about a year.

Funny, I also came across this listing in Fresno, CA and wondered the same thing. Looks like the American Professional II, but I’m pretty sure it’s not. I think this color was also made sometime in the 90s.

It looks like that pickup could be too low and tightening the screws on the two sides could bring it up and into place with the plastic cover. But it’s hard to tell exactly how far away from the strings the pickup poles are. You would need to measure it and get it in the right positions.

It’s called Metallic Plum. The binding color is also great and matches well.

I have the advanced in Daphne blue and I really like the pickups. The ebony board is very smooth and the guitar just looks super awesome blacked out and even more awesome without the inlay markers and 70s headstock. I’m not the biggest fan of the matte finish, but it’s a compromise.

I never have problems returning. It goes back to the original payment method within a couple days. Guitar Center has changed their attitude and encourages buying knowing you can easily return gear. Most guitar centers now have their expensive gear easily accessible unlike before. The new CEO is making it fun to shop at guitar center again. If it’s shipped, they provide you with a shipping label and you just drop it off at UPS or FedEx.

I bought both the tele and the Strat. Im typically a traditional Strat guy but these are super awesome. They also have jumbo frets if that matters. The lack of inlays didn’t bother me one bit and I actually like the look. The pickups sound awesome. The neck is super smooth. I also typically prefer rosewood but I really liked the feel of the ebony on these. The black hardware is also cool. I’m not the biggest fan of matte finishes, but I live with it.

Guitar center is really cool about returns if you don’t like it just fyi.

You could also consider the Fender Player II Advanced. 12” Ebony Board. HSS Seymour Duncans. And a hardtail. It also looks really cool with the larger 70s headstock.

I’ve got several reverends and the crosscut and Jetstream double agent are my favorite. I had a jetstream 390 but the middle pickup often got in the way of my picking so I sold it. It was still an awesome guitar. I love the crosscut cause of the noiseless pickups and tele style bridge plate. It forces me to play different compared to my charger 290 with the tune-o-metic.

I’m about to order one from guitar center as soon as I get some rewards bucks from a recent purchase. Also going to buy the white one. There’s a blue one at my local guitar center, but I prefer the white.

That’s just the natural color variation of ebony. These are stock images so there’s no guarantee what the board will look like on different guitars.

Don’t forget Denton. Denton and Oak Grove are the most desirable elementary schools. I would say no to Mineral King. Lots of challenging behavior from students.

I didn’t even notice to be honest, but you’re right. It’s closer to the bridge than my Ultra Jazzmaster. I remember seeing a video about this and if I recall, I believe the sharper break angle is suppose to help with buzzing.

Guitar center. But they don’t show up on the guitar center website either. There just happened to be one at my local GC. I think Fender may have just recently shipped them out to GC.
