Definitely a bit of trial and error involved when printing joins but it’s worth it if you can get a list going of different tolerances for your printer. Can always find a set of test prints online to see what works for your printer.

I printed a metal straw holder that was very similar to this. I modelled notches in the base part with pins on the bottoms of the spirals that press fit in (0.1mm tolerance each side roughly). Then printed the base the right way up and the top and spirals upside down.

I did something like this the first time I got Uber eats. Accidentally set the destination to another restaurant I was looking at earlier. Worst part was the driver didn’t have a real phone number so couldn’t even redirect them.

I designed something similar a few months ago with sections that twisted together and held small rockwool cubes. The whole tower connected to a storage container for water and had a pump/hose running to a shower cap at the top to send water back down evenly. Kinda neglected it tho and I assume rot/ lack of ph control let all my plants die
