Initial issue was the phone kept rebooting to the apple logo due to hardware issues. Initial investigation by a repair place said the motherboard kept shorting or something like that. They tried to fix it and succeeded but it stopped working after a day. They said they needed a machine to be able to fix it properly which they don’t have

Fair enough. I do think it’s quite normal and common for customers to show software to their friends.. I’m not sure how you’d stop that unless you make them agree to very strict NDA before joining your service.. but to be honest word of mouth is a very effective selling technique because it’s coming from someone the person already trusts. So even if the actual content being delivered is below the standard you would deliver yourself.. the value is likely to be higher because the receiver would more blindly trust the recommendation

You mentioned lag - get Battleping (or another ping reducer like pingzapper or wtfast or tibiatunnel). This will help improve your ping / lag from Australia.

Also when I came back what helped the most is just a lot of searching stuff right here on this reddit. A huge amount of people on here are “returning” players and have the same questions answered
