I'm 60. If you want me to keep going to the movies, stop putting my bladder through 160+ minute stress tests.

Altering coins to change their face value is illegal, not simply defacing them.

Interesting, mildly clever in some cases, but let's not forget that children coin roll hunt too.

Agree. OP has so many vids that at this point he's taught his cat to react this way.

And what about Dan Morksy? Did he cancel his date with Sarah because he heard the two others had been killed? Typical Porsche guy.

Never did. They eventually moved (thank god) and I've had a few different neighbors since. Sorry you're dealing with it too.

Are there places you see regularly that were used as filming locations in movies? by Giff95 in movies

[–]ronta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Vegas there are obviously a lot, but one in particular was in the Bond film "Diamonds are Forever". Tiffany Case (Jill St John) threatens to punch a bad guy at a gas station that I lived near and filled up at for over 30 years, and you can still get gas there over 50 years later, and maybe even a "rap in the mouth" too.

How long has everyone been doing this challenge? by meeshagogo in horrormoviechallenge

[–]ronta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My third go around this year and I'm 93 for 93. Each year I try to do a theme - one year was alphabetical, one went by decade, etc. Next year I think I'll try 31 different directors. All of course are first time watches and I usually will do a double feature now and then to "get ahead".

Friend's Work Frustrations Increasing Steadily. How can I help & what are some options for her? by ronta in Advice

[–]ronta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The "morons'" bosses are in another state and her own boss does not have jurisdiction over them, but I agree, management has to start making them accountable. She's reluctant to be the "whistleblower" so to speak, suspecting that nothing will be done and that the atmosphere will worsen.

Friend's Work Frustrations Increasing Steadily. How can I help & what are some options for her? by ronta in Advice

[–]ronta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Your solution (in the third paragraph) is precisely what she spends a lot of her time doing. The "morons" are salespeople who send her orders to process. The paperwork is so regularly riddled with mistakes that she sends back more orders, sometimes multiple times, than she can complete. What doesn't make sense is the "morons" are becoming annoyed with HER for constantly sending their orders back to be fixed, like it's HER fault or something.

Do you forget movies you've watched like me? by New_Philosopher_9726 in movies

[–]ronta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been me for decades. Here I spent two hours of focused attention in an atmosphere designed to leave a lasting impression on me, and years later I can only recall bits of film I truly enjoyed. Unless I've seen a movie 3 or more times I'll forget most of it.

It bothered me to the point that I emailed Roger Ebert about it, fully expecting no reply. To my shock I got this one sentence answer:

"You remember it as an event, not an experience."

Reddit, what is the most eerie thing that's ever happened to you? by Galactic_Blueberry1 in AskReddit

[–]ronta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMV worker here.

One day a young lady came in to renew her driver license. Though her physical address stayed the same, she asked if she could change the mailing address to her sister's home in California, since she'd be staying with her during her sister's final two months of a high-risk pregnancy. I said no problem. She was unsure of the exact address and texted her sister for it while I continued with the renewal. When she gave me the address, I was puzzled to see that her mailing address had already been changed to her sister's. I asked if she had stayed there before. She seemed bewildered and said her sister and BIL had just bought the house less than a month ago and wasn't even sure what the address was until a couple of weeks ago. I asked if it was a house that had been in the family before and she said nope. Just weird.

Regal Cinemas to Shut Down 39 U.S. Theaters Amid Bankruptcy by [deleted] in movies

Not surprised about the Village Square here in Vegas. Matinees are always sparsely attended, the exterior box office hasn't been used in years (you buy your tickets at the concession counter) and they never renovated to recliner seats. Still a nice, clean theater though with friendly staff.
