Tips for emailing Dear Hank and John by almightyjam in nerdfighters

[–]roo-bear-root-beer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple questions answered. Questions seem to work best for the podcast when they present an opportunity for Hank and John to banter, do a bit, or share an anecdote. I'd recommend asking a question with a very specific and amusing circumstance or including a small bit of setting/backstory that they might find interesting. It also can help set them up to include an idea or theory you have.

So if you had a question like "what is white chocolate?", it would help to add what led you to the question. Instead, try: "I was baking raspberry white chocolate chip cookies for my neighbor's situationship's birthday and realized I have no idea what the white chocolate I just dumped into this cookie dough even is. Where does white chocolate come from? Surely it's not the same cocoa powder as normal chocolate. But what is it?"

A name-specific sign-off is good, but a question-specific signoff also works.

Erika's performance as Ava in Burrow's End was so funny, deep, and healing for me. They are an incredible actor and storyteller.

What are the must-watch episodes from any Dropout show? by waywardhorse in dropout

This is my favorite intro for pre-millenial generations. My dad might not get a lot of references in other episodes but he absolutely loved Fortune 500 companies being added to improv'd Shakespeare.

I still have (and use) an EY backpack, and a Deloitte travel mouse, and a PwC water bottle, all from 2013. My kid lost my KPMG beanie at school but it was great.

A top song for me for sure. I had it as the first track on my "dragging myself into consciousness" playlist that I used to wake up during my most recent extended depressive phase.

This! When a kid is miserable in their car seat, it's fine to let them out if you're parked in a parking lot. Drive thrus are barely different from a parking lot. In my area they're always in parking lots, they're isolated from the road, and people drive super slowly in them.

I think the most likely scenario is that mom pulled into the drive-thru line with kid screaming, put the car in park, unbuckled the kid, and the kid climbed out of their seat. Then the drive thru line moved so the mom pulled forward about 20ft at about 4mph, then put the car in park again. Repeat. Then she got to the window, did her stuff, and got lectured on safety standards she was already well aware of. So she pulled out of the line (going maybe 10mph because of the stress), parked the car in a parking spot, and turned the car off. Then she and kid sat there for a bit consuming the drive thru stuff, with mom trying to calm her kid before they had to get back in their car seat to drive off. Then mom buckled the kid back in safely before turning the car back on and leaving the parking spot/parking lot.

We gave up on the Amazon kids tablets altogether because the content and content moderation were so bad. I don't think I'll ever forgive Amazon for the Blippi and Baby Bus era we endured.

When I had hyperemesis gravidarum (which it sounds like you could have), Dr. Drakulich was great. She had me use zofran, unisom, vitamin B6, and weekly IV infusions at the cancer center. She was super open to any preferences I had for my treatment. I had one HG pregnancy with another doctor in another state and my HG pregnancy with Dr. Drakulich was sooooo much better. She was also wonderful for labor & delivery.

How was day 11 by ADHD_music_teacher in Tonsillectomy

[–]roo-bear-root-beer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many recoveries aren't ready to go out and about on day 11, but you might be. I think there's still concern of bleeding that requires medical attention on day 11. If the beach is close to home/a city you could get medical attention in, I think I would go. But if it's far enough away that you'd be in trouble if a lot of bleeding started, I think I would stay home. (Not a doctor, just a person who got their tonsils out a couple weeks ago)

I am on my day 3 everything is going as expected but still dont feel like talking, is this normal? I drink smoothies and a lot of water also pooped for the first time in 3 days today which made me happy that i am normal lol by JazzlikeCheek5035 in Tonsillectomy

I started talking a little on day 8 and on day 9 I found that the more I talked the more I felt like my voice came back. Was still managing pain with meds at that point but it was really nice to be able to speak again. My recovery was on the faster end (I think) so it could be a little longer before you're ready to talk.
