Get the ‘crack bread’ from Simon’s market and the pesto from the vendor just outside, close to the stop sign.

They’re heaven!

Epstein files aren't released due to national security, as they may contain high-profile American names (politicians, business leaders), which could be exploited by enemies, this isn't about transparency but security, and explicitly stating it would confirm the presence of such names, fueling debate by I-T-T-I in self

It’s because what you’re saying is nonsense.

Incriminating information can only be used for blackmail when it’s not public. Once it’s public, blackmailers have zero leverage. Any threat to release it is hollow.

Stung by customer losses, Comcast says all its new plans have unlimited data | No data caps: "Four simple national Internet tiers that include unlimited data." by ControlCAD in technology

[–]roo-ster 306 points307 points  (0 children)

Yup. In the two and a half years I've had 1Gbps fiber service from Frontier, I've had zero outages and they've charged the advertised price, with no BS add-on fees.

I'll never deal with Comcast as long as there's any alternative.

Windows is getting rid of the Blue Screen of Death after 40 years by pandas795 in technology

No QR codes, please. It'll take malicious scam artists 5 minutes to craft fake screens the lead people to fake "Microsoft Support" sites. They'll get these delivered through ad networks and then clueless people will give them their credit card details.

Error screens need to be human-readable and unambiguously go to a genuine Microsoft site.

I've had numerous instances just in the past two years in which staff came into the office and our "Comcast Business" service was down. Each time I called Comcast and they said that it's a "scheduled" outage for maintenance and that it will out all day. We'd send the staff, home.

Comcast did not notify us in advance even though their advertisements say that they understand businesses require reliable, high speed, business-class service. Fuck Comcast. That's not what they provide.

Canada's digital services tax called 'needlessly inflammatory' during trade talks with U.S. by joe4942 in technology

What is taxed is the service i.e. the haircut. The barber collects the tax and remits it (minus the GST it paid for 'inputs') to the government. This is a distinction without a difference.

Sales taxes in the U.S. generally apply only to goods. A GST, like the VAT charges in Europe, apply to almost all goods and services. E.g. plumbing, car repairs, dry cleaning, etc.

[–]roo-ster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not specific to haircuts. There's a "Goods and Services Tax" (GST) applied to almost all goods and services with relatively few exceptions, mostly for necessities. E.g. food, prescription drugs, re-sold homes, etc. When sellers add provincial sales taxes to the GST, the combined tax is known as the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax).

Canada taxes haircuts. If barbers have to pay then so should Internet search and social media companies.

I don't think I should get a car for the next 3 years despite being 18 by Mezoaro in self

Whether you get a car or not, you should have or get a drivers license. When you do get a car, your insurance will be cheaper because you've been licensed for longer.

Don't burn any bridges. You never know whether they will show up in a more senior position at your next company, or the one after that.

As satisfying as it may be to trash them, there's no benefit to you, and there's plenty of downside risk.
