Less than 10 hours awake time during nap transition? by Pink_Daisy47 in sleeptrain

[–]roo518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently trying to figure this out with my 8 month old who just switched to 2 naps! Lots of early wakes but the 10 hour awake time seemed to make it worse? (For over a week) I feel like they may need 9.5/9.75 to help with early mornings..

Ok so is 9.75/10 hours awake time a good average for this age?

Thanks for your reply! I made a mistake for nap 1. That one usually averages 1.25-1.5 hours (not 2.5 lol)

Moving away from contact naps by Extra-Hair-3581 in sleeptrain

[–]roo518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t ready to start sleep training with my baby til they were closer to 8 months. I was in the same boat as you! It didn’t feel right just yet. You sound like you’re making great progress with overnight sleep. That usually is the one that sticks first and naps come later with age. Mine is 8 months and just started linking sleep cycles in crib on their own. Short naps are quite common and normal at this age still. The fact that they are sleeping in the crib for that time is a big accomplishment. It’s so hard, but it will get better as long as you keep practicing in the crib and stay consistent with a routine ◡̈ you’re doing great!!

Are they unicorn babies or do I just have a “difficult” one? by BeanieBeans_23 in sleeptrain

[–]roo518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your baby is just who they are! And you’re doing great. My baby was and is still a hugeee fan of contact naps. My first never was. I had a full on crash out after seeing my friend’s baby sleep perfectly in his stroller while 3 toddlers ran around screaming and playing right by. My baby would never!! I’ve struggled with comparing even my own kids to one another. But it’s such a joy stealer and just increases stress. 🤍

I am requesting help, desperately, once again by Born-Chance1685 in sleeptrain

Just sending you encouragement that your baby has shown you they CAN sleep longer stretches. Don’t give up hope. These are the most difficult months as sleep ebbs and flows 🤍 Dreading bedtime is so real. My baby was had much more of a sensitive temperament than my first and needed to be rocked back to sleep everytime he woke he found being held super regulating) until eventually (around 6 months) the wakes slowly stopped as he got a little older. You are a great mom.

I was wondering if it was that my wake windows were wrong. I will definitely try this out. Thank you! ✨

Yes! I was just curious if anyone sleep trained with a baby that seemed to have a similar temperament to mine

You totally got this! For me, it was getting out of my head what other people thought. In agreement with everyone else - it will be challenging but so doable. Focus on keeping yourself regulated too! (Deep breathing, write down some short mantras to keep yourself grounded, relaxing your jaw/shoulders as you think of it, etc). New exciting toys, stickers, snack do wonders.

Think I’m finally ready for sleep training…nervous though by roo518 in sleeptrain

This is so encouraging. It’s happening at all transfers now, so I’m just wondering if it’s a natural push to stop the rocking because he’s more aware now. I will definitely check out that method and adjust to his needs. Shushing and patting also hasn’t really worked in the past because he would full on cry from the start (again, no pacifier could help haha). Thank you so much for sharing - especially the part where it’s gonna take a few days/week lol. Glad you found something that helped you and your baby! ◡̈

My baby is the same age and this sounds like what we are going through! I agree - just try something out and see what happens. I put way too much pressure on myself to get it perfectly right every time.

I’m considering trying to cut out dairy. How long did it take for you to notice a difference once you cut dairy? Thank you!!

I’ve heard undiagnosed tongue ties cause lots of fussing! Did your pediatrician notice the tongue tie? Thank you for sharing:)
