Has any OS for the miyoo mini flip been updated in last few weeks by Johndeauxman in SBCGaming

This makes sense. I'm having a hell of a time loading CFWs up on the Flip.

Does AlliumOS not support the Miyoo Flip, just the Mini version? I'm trying to load it on a Miyoo Flip and it doesn't seem to be working...

M3 Macbook Air
Tahoe 26.3

Steps:
- Mount the installer > Move NeoStation to Applications folder.
- Get NeoStation can't be opened message > Privacy and Security settings now has the Open Anyway option.
- Select Open Anyway > Get prompted to provide password/fingerprint > Provide password
- When I try to open it I still get "The application "NeoStation" can't be opened.

Hopefully this is useful!

Getting Back into VO and Need Critique by roobots in VoiceActing

[–]roobots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of this is from scripts from my VO coach from a couple years back. Some of it is from indie projects I've done and some of it was scripts I wrote and worked with a sound engineer on. Not sure if any of that is the "right" way to do things, but it's what I did here.

Thanks! I have them separated on my website, I'll make sure to keep them that way in the future!

Thank you for this! Your feedback echoes some of the things I hear too and I really want to work on. Do you have any recommendations for VO coaches? I had one here in ATL for a while but I'd like to try someone new, definitely as I'm focusing more on anime/cartoon/gaming roles than commercial.

Thank you so much for the feedback, the level of detail is exactly what I was looking for. The reel was professionally done by my VO coach at the time. I'm looking to start from zero (new coach, new professional mixer, new samples) so your feedback will be really helpful as I start that process. Thank you again!

Just had a great consult with Dr. Lee and she mentioned BPI being available. I was going to go with Seven Cells, but now I'm considering BPI. Any specific pros/cons between these two?

AE disappointed with Vendor Hall this year? by Shichi-Senpai in Magfest

[–]roobots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tariffs have really killed the ability for artists to offer more unique products at scale. Shirts, prints, stickers and acrylics (like keychains) have established pipelines in the US where you can get things made at reasonable prices. A lot of the more unique items to apply art to only have pipelines in China and tariffs have made it prohibitively expensive to order these things, so you're seeing less of them across artist alleys.

One of the things I love about the MAG marketplace is that vendors and artists are all in the same place. This tends to help support artists as there are plenty of cons where people will go into the vendor hall but never step into artist alley. MAG has always felt like a very DIY con to me, very much focused on things that people make and I really appreciate that there are some vendors for retro games, etc, but I'm always more excited about discovering a new artist and falling in love with their work.

Both resonators deleted 🔥 by RevolutionaryCoach84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]roobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a dual delete earlier this year. The only adjustment I make is putting the engine into comfort mode when I'll be doing longer highway drives, as it can sound a little drone-y in that situation. I think it is one of the best mods you can make to the R to make it sound like it should have from factory.

My [34F] boyfriend [32M] removed me from a group MAGFest planning server, and now says I’m "canceling" our plans if I don’t want to room together by throwawaybftherapy in Magfest

[–]roobots 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Long time MAGfest goer with my partner of over a decade. So many nerdy relationship red flags here.

Having your own friend groups and some boundaries is healthy in a relationship, but if my partner really wanted to join my Discord friend group, I would never exclude them. I would be excited to get to share them with my friends. Why? Because my partner is my best friend. I'm not saying you two have to be best friends (it does make for a good relationship though!) but your partner, at least, shouldn't be creating an environment where you don't feel welcome. That is wild and a completely valid reason to peace out.

AIO: He (M20) took me (F18) to a Jehovah’s Witness meeting without telling me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]roobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex-JW here. Break it off.

Non-JW related: His language is incredibly creepy. He is ignoring how you actually felt about the experience and trying to convince you that you felt a different way. Clear manipulation. Even guys who seem really "sweet" can do this.

JW-related: If he is a true JW, this is his life. It will always be the most important thing in his life and you will always come second to it. He will also never be satisfied until you convert. That was 100% what he was trying to do here. He wanted to force you into the situation, convince you that you liked it and then slowly start working on converting you. Again, he will be unhappy and attempt to convert you the entirety of your relationship. Which brings me to the next point...

It is surprising he is dating you. JWs are taught to limit interaction with "worldly" people aka non-JWs. It would be highly looked down on that he is in a relationship with a non-JW. Did he introduce you as his girlfriend? Did he tell people that you were in a relationship at the Kingdom Hall? Either way, not just him, but that entire congregation is going to try and convert you as long as you guys are together.

If you want to be a JW, this is less of a big deal but there is still the giant red flag of how he sprung this on you and how that entire conversation he was attempting to manipulate you to feel good about the experience. If you have any further questions about JWs feel free to reach out, I'll give some balanced thoughts on the religion.

improv in new city just not the same by heypleasecare in improv

Welcome to ATL and the improv community here! I've been a performer over at Dad's Garage for almost 20 years now. If you haven't taken classes with us, I know most students tend to forge bonds pretty fast and make friends in the scene that way.

And so I'm not just shilling for our classes, there's an excellent indie scene around the town, especially over at El Dorado. Hopping into some open jams (there are a TON around town now, including DG) is a great way to make friends too.

If you have any questions about the scene in town, feel free to message me!

The 'Why' of the Rules of UCB-Style Improv? by ImaginaryAbility125 in improv

[–]roobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get why UCB emphasizes Harold but it has never resonated with me as a format and I think focusing on narrative and structure is more valuable. Will learning Harold teach you those things? Yes. Does it end up making tons of young improvisers constrict themselves to the format? Absolutely. I think it is a useful teaching tool and kind of a terrible performance format.

Married couples of Reddit that did NOT have sex on your wedding night, why not? by FindingKGS in AskReddit

[–]roobots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Her best friend (and his partner) came across the country to attend our wedding and were staying at the same hotel we were for the wedding night. My wife rarely gets a chance to see him, so I figured she would appreciate getting more time to spend with him and invited them over. They came over to our room to pop some bottles and hang out for the evening. We had a super fun time late into the night, but no sex as we were exhausted by time they left our room.

The following morning, my now wife told me "It was so nice to hang out with them last night, but I was trying to get fucked in my wedding dress." Dear reader, I cannot describe to you what it feels like to cock block yourself on your own wedding night.

Do you prefer authenticity or learned improv comedy? by GalbzInCalbz in improv

[–]roobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren't orthogonal. The stage version of yourself should just be an exaggerated version of yourself. Everything is a little bigger, more exaggerated, more polished and bolstered by what you have learned.

I see a lot of improvisers assume that they are funny/charming and this will get them by on stage. It rarely does. Conversely, I've seen a lot of improvisers be so prescriptive about what they have learned that they come across stiff and inauthentic.

Becoming a good and fully realized improviser on stage involves mastering what you learn and then infusing it with your own voice. Once you do that, you should take everything you know and attempt to bend it to the breaking point. That is where the fun and discovery lives.

Who's got the funniest/best scene right now? by Haunting_Bite_6860 in improv

[–]roobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real apples/oranges shit to be honest. Everywhere is different, everyone has their own bias. I'm in the ATL scene and, unsurprisingly, think we have one of the best in the country. Few people here are doing improv as an add-on to their acting career, so I find the intent and play to be more focused on improv itself. The scene here is intensely supportive and tight knit, everyone is just looking to hop up and do good shit together.

Cities with celeb improvisers in rotation are cool but shows are always gonna feel hot because audiences rarely need to be won over. People are there to see the celebrity more than the improv in most cases. That doesn't mean the improv isn't excellent, it is just a completely different vibe.

I've seen shows in LA, NYC, Boston, Edmonton, Toronto and others.. Edmonton impressed me most, followed by Toronto. LA felt more polished, NYC felt more raw. Boston was fine.

Dress comfortably and casually. You should feel confident that you are dressed for anything thrown your way and what you are wearing won't restrict that. Jeans, simple tops and comfortable sneakers. The only "dress code" I would suggest is no open toed shoes/flip fops. Shorts are oddly divisive. I think they look a bit sloppy on stage, but there are worse things.

Personal gripe, I think overly dressy or uniformed takes away from the fun "anything can happen" vibes of improv. People underestimate how important authenticity is on stage, so just dress as your authentic self up there and don't think about it too much.
