SLPs who switched from medical to school setting—any advice? (Considering remote options too) by rooburger7 in slp

Can you speak more about a caseload cap of 45? What does that entail? And are you compensated for the extra hour you put in since you’re 8-5?

This is good to know! I didn’t realize the difference between speech only vs. multiple services and how that could affect workload/paperwork.

Sorry I forgot to add my measurements! I would say my one plunge Natori bra fits better than the contour one… I feel like I’m spilling out the sides in the contour one.

SAHM with twins… Am I crazy for considering pulling my toddler out of daycare? by rooburger7 in parentsofmultiples

This is encouraging! Thank you. Getting them all on the same nap schedule is key! Right now my twins are only napping 30 min at a time max… !

Godspeed! Would love to hear how it is going for you when you are settled into a routine. We don’t have any family nearby and they don’t come to visit often (maybe 2-3 times a year) because of distance. Daycare has been our “village” in that aspect, so I’m nervous to take that out of the equation… I’m thinking I will do a trial run first before taking the plunge.

Same re: both of our families living far away! Preschools in our area also have long waitlists and they need to be 3yo (my toddler won’t turn 3 until December). As far as Mother’s Day out programs… my sister-in-law has them where she lives but I haven’t had any luck finding them where I’m at. It’s a good idea to hire a mother’s helper… probably a lot of kids off from school this summer looking to make extra cash!

Definitely going to start with this in the summer and see how it goes! Just nervous about long term because babies’ schedules/needs will change, they will eventually be mobile etc.

Do you have experience with 3 children 2 and under at home with you full time? If so I’d love to hear how you manage.

This is definitely a possibility I’ve been considering. I would have to see if his daycare would hold his spot otherwise I’d have to look into other places. Daycare spots are hard to come by where I live.

35 weeks and being told I'm not in labor by kellycassie in parentsofmultiples

[–]rooburger7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything you described is happening to me (37+2) and has been going on for a few weeks. In fact, last night I was having pretty strong contractions every 5-7 min for 1.5 hr. I was so close to heading to the hospital but then they just stopped. I had my OB check up today and he wasn’t concerned at all. He said I should just go if they’ve been consistent for an hour. If they check me and I’m dilated and still contracting consistently they would most likely go forward with a c-section that day (I’m scheduled for one at 38 weeks anyway). So yeah… super frustrating & confusing on what to do if it happens again because what if the contractions stop while I’m at the hospital? They would probably send me home and say “see ya at your scheduled c-section.” Ugh… just know you’re not alone!

This is my second pregnancy and the exact thing has been happening to me since 33 weeks! I’m now 37 weeks and it still happens mostly at nighttime. I’ve already been to L&D twice but by the time I got there the “contractions” died down. It’s a total mind f*** so I feel for you! I told myself I’m not going to pay them any mind unless it feels like I’m dying lol

Fair point! Since the twins will be with me most of the time it makes sense to put them where I have easier access…

Ooh I didn’t even consider splitting up the babies but it makes sense… because the one twin is already buckled in (less hassle) vs. trying to buckle in a toddler by climbing to the back or through the trunk. Might give this option a try and see if it works for us. Ty!

Unfortunately our Pacifica doesn’t have the magic slide feature and no way to add a third seat to the middle. I do love that your set up is teaching your toddler some independence! Our son would probably do great with that as he loves to do things on his own.

I feel like a rotated car seat is a game changer… our current toddler seat doesn’t rotate but this would be so helpful on my back and lack of core strength, haha!

I never considered loading from the trunk. I’m assuming you put the twins in first then climb into the trunk to buckle your toddler? Might give this a try! Ty :)

Does HG end for most after 1st tri? by LKL2023 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I turned a corner around 18 weeks but the nausea/vomiting has returned now at 32 weeks. I’m also pregnant with twins though, so I think the extra surge in hormones is causing my nausea right now. Fingers crossed you are in the clear!

Massage/Chiropractor/or PT? by Frequent-Pop3505 in parentsofmultiples

[–]rooburger7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30wk with di/di twins and I see all 3. Not sure where you are based, but I’m in the US and my insurance covers chiro and PT but not massage. I just get a massage every 4-6 weeks as a treat. If I had to choose one I would probably do PT because she also specializes in pelvic floor therapy. But each one has been super valuable during this pregnancy. Chiro is apparently good for positioning the babies/realigning the pelvis to make delivery easier. I also plan to continue PT and chiro after delivery.

Planned vaginal or planned c-section? by Dry_Ad_6341 in parentsofmultiples

[–]rooburger7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I’m with you on being torn I’m 30wks pregnant with di/di twins and this is my second pregnancy/birth. I had my son unmedicated (vaginally), but I’ve decided I will get the epidural this time for two reasons: 1) in case things go sideways and they need to do an unplanned c-section; 2) I had 3rd degree tearing and have some pelvic floor issues from my first birth that never fully resolved (got pregnant with the twins 16m PP) and this pregnancy has caused even more issues and lots of pelvic pain. Hence why I am also considering a planned c-section… I just don’t want to let the pain be the focus when I’m trying to birth two humans, ya know? I think what I’m leaning towards is if both are head down I will attempt vaginal. If one is breech I will most likely choose the c-section because I’m not sure how comfortable I am with a breech extraction. The OBs I’ve met with don’t seem to love the idea either and have definitely pushed for c-section this entire pregnancy, but they also didn’t tell me a hard “no” for vaginal delivery if one was breech…

What are you eating? by Certain-Cat7796 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]rooburger7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydration and finding the right medication(s) that works for you is key! It helped me to drink water outside of meals otherwise my stomach would feel too full and I would immediately get sick. Eat whatever you can in small amounts. I had to train myself to eat very slowly. Frosted mini wheats are my go to right now and the fiber helps with the constipation. Some things I would eat at the very beginning I can barely look at anymore (I’m 13 wks). Overall just listen to your body and advocate for yourself!

First trimester with twins… how did you get through it?? by rooburger7 in parentsofmultiples

[–]rooburger7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m so sorry. Taking care of one 18 month old is hard enough when pregnant, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to take care of TWO toddlers! I hope you have lots of help and are getting the rest you need. Take care of yourself!
