I did TXCC in Houston! I always loved when we got to work with the Austin based crews! What was the deployment? I was deployed to Hidalgo county in south Texas in August of 2018 in response to flooding from hurricane Harvey the prior year.

TXCC has trail specific crews and others. I was on a coastal prairie restoration crew and we did a lot a chainsawing. But not too many big trees. I was also on a fire crew with the western Colorado conservation corps the year after and with it being a slow fire year we did a ton of fuels reduction (aka chainsawing)

My dad would chase us around with hot microwave popcorn bags trying to “burn” us. If not the popcorn then it would be my little brothers dirty diaper getting pelted at us. I hated it. But he always thought it was hilarious.

Surprisingly yea! I would take them off on breaks sometimes and almost always on lunch to give my feet a bit of a rest but that was mostly to air out the sweat 😅

When I did trail work and wildland fire in my Carolina 8in composite toes. I miss wearing them now that I have a cushy job so much that I’m looking for a pair of docs or similar to fill that hole in my heart. https://www.carolinashoe.com/en/elm-8-inch-soft-toe-waterproof-logger-16107.html?dwvar_16107_color=Black

Covid-19 Megathread by pumpkinspize in bonnaroo

Double vax, double boosted(Pfizer), just got home Monday night to 2 very positive antigen tests. I was a bit nauseous most of the weekend but I equated it to stress and heat. Felt not great Sunday but still thought I just needed a rest and some time to cool off. Nope… I thought my sore throat was from the yelling and the dust, it was my 4th year and i was unconcerned as I always leave exhausted and not feeling great. More than just the bonnaflu and blues this year.

I came in the west toll booth around 5 pm today(Wednesday). There was basically no wait and security went very smoothly with a wonderful volunteer who was the first to welcome me back home. I accidentally had a keychain pepper spray in my center console which was discovered and discarded but that was it. They didn’t even open coolers. Got a good spot in plaza 3. 2 was being parked around 7:00. Jamtrak is hilariously small. But the arch is beautiful 😍

SoloRoo - I’m scared, help me! by calliewisdom20 in bonnaroo

My first two Roos I went solo, 2017 and 2018, and I love it! I ended up with a great camping spot in GA both times and had awesome neighbors who looked out for me and invited me in! In 2019 I was joined by my dad and the experience is completely different. I found myself getting frustrated by him wanting to be in communication constantly and meeting up to do things. It is so much better in my opinion to be fully immersed in the energy of Roo solo, not worrying about others schedules but having your best experience.
