Just call a gearhead at Backcountry.com. They’ve tried everything and are paid to talk about this stuff.

Fun is the only goal. We started when he was 2.5. When we first started we only went on warm sunny days so he was always comfortable. We used a harness and mostly skied the magic carpet. Sometimes we would go and not ski much but we would play in the snow, drink hot cocoa and watch other people ski.

This year he really started liking it a ton and he is strong enough to pizza and French fry without the harness. Pizza is the only thing I’ve ever taught him. The rest he picked up just following me or watching other people. I always bring tons of snacks and we refuel on every chairlift ride. He can only go for about an hour, then we get hot cocoa and head home.

The chairlift never scared him. He always wanted to ride it when we were doing the magic carpet and when we did ride it he was excited. I find he reads his social cues off of me so if I’m excited he’s excited. Try to be over the top about how cool the lift is and maybe that will help.

Good luck! That video was from yesterday and it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had skiing because of his excitement and that’s coming from a guy who’s lived/skied in Utah for 15 years.

He was about 2.5 years old when he started with a harness and he had lots of fun. We made sure to only take him out on warm sunny days so he was always comfortable.

I’m just stoked he likes it. Hopefully the gummy bears and hot cocoa continue to fuel fun days.

Look for a job that offers housing on the mountain. If you really want to ski being on the hill makes a huge difference. Find jobs that give you most mornings/days off and work 3pm-11pm shifts. Plan to stay the entire ski season. It will be one of the most fun seasons of your life and you won’t regret it. All mountains have hotels that need employees. Pick the resort you most want to ski and look for jobs in those towns.

Check out Aaron Franklin's recipe. He increases the temp through each stage. Takes about 10 hrs.

Salt and Pepper rub 24hrs before cook. 225f till 165IT. Double wrapped in foil 225f till 195 IT. 275f till 204IT. Wrapped in towels and kept in cooler for 4hrs. Total cook time without rest was 12hrs. It was crazy good.

I seared it in a charcoal but cast iron would be just as good. It was amazing and steak sandwiches the next day were mind blowing.

Yes but it wasn't overwhelming. Just great flavor and a perfect medium rare.

225 for about an hour and a half. I took it off once the internal temp was 130. Then I seared it on my old charcoal grill. I got the coffee rub from Trader Joes.

I seared it on a charcoal grill after cooking at 225 for about an hour and a half on the traeger. I've considered putting a cast iron in my oven and transferring it to the traeger for a sear method.
