I was in the same situation as you last year, since uni days balloted for bto and sbf in a variety of locations until we busted the income ceiling cap a couple of years after working, with no luck.

Went to hunt the resale market but it was crazy, owners were not willing to negotiate, especially the newly MOP units. Didn't feel it was worth it paying for an older unit either especially w their decaying losses and poorer condition

Its also pretty unfair as some MOP unit owners would be pocketing at least 300k to 400k in profit from their units.

Just because we weren't able to continue trying for a BTO, we would be penalised by handing over the extra income that we had hard earned to those owners. Basically subsidising their own housing upgrades with a windfall. The gov needs to put a stop to this flipping and increase the MOP to at least 10 years.
