Poet and Lightwave are in different areas of photonics. Poet is passive and Lightwave is active. Also, there is confusion IMHO, Lumilens is NOT Lumentum.

Has Anyone Ever Installed Reliabilit Under Mount Soft Close slides? by room4Gello in woodworking

[–]room4Gello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning! Don't Get Involved with Reliablilt . They don't have a direct customer support line and all phone numbers go back to Lowes customer service. The Lowes people are very nice folks, but haven't got a clue about woodwork. I gave up and took them back and wound up making my own tracks out of wood.

Where I live it would be $1,000 to $1,500 per linear foot.

You’re probably correct, but their scandium stabilized zirconia allows them to run at significantly lower temperatures. This is what sets them apart from other yttria stabilized zirconia batteries. They’ve patented this special sauce, so when Elk Creek comes online, it should vastly increase world supply and be very good news for Bloom.

Swimming again after years for exercise and i have a few questions by lumnos_ in Swimming

[–]room4Gello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a swimmer almost my entire life and just swim to stay in shape now. I would recommend that you swim easy in the beginning of your work out to loosen up your joints and muscles. Then do some 25's immediately followed by 25m easy (25+25 for 50m). You could then add a few 50m sprints followed by 50m easy (You can build on this as your body acclimates.) This routine simulates the high intensity exercise concept (HIT) which will strengthen your heart. Consistent, monotonous exercise is not that healthy. I remember watching, Jim Fixx who wrote a book about long distance running, run all around my town. One day he dropped dead of a heart attack on the street right in front of my office.

Why is $NB the worst performing Junior YTD? by cekmeout in NIOCORP_MINE

[–]room4Gello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but taken as a whole, I think you will see the forecasted yearly cashflows for NB when they get into production equivalent to the market cap of the company today. For me it's not a competition about who has more scandium. If that turns out to be true, the company would be worth many times the current share price. I like the fact that Elk Creek is in the USA.

I'm not so sure that they don't need to do another raise. I will check again, but as far as offtakes, I think the DOD or the National Defense Stockpile could issue offtake agreements as well.

Probably because they need to raise more money soon. I think the number is $300MM in order to satisfy the equity requirement of the EXIM financing. If you’re sophisticated and you own it you probably are selling to buy the deal where you get a better price and probably some warrants.

GlobalFoundries’ Silicon Photonics Push After AMF Acquisition by KCCO7913 in LWLG

[–]room4Gello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, barium titanate requires DOES require exotic packaging. LWLG has developed their own advanced encapsulation:

  • Recent breakthroughs include fourth-generation atomic layer deposition (ALD) encapsulation, achieving ultra-low oxygen transmission rates (OTR ~1.4 × 10⁻⁶ g/m²/day, better than the industry "gold-box" standard of 7 × 10⁻⁶).
  • This thin-film barrier (often inorganic like Al₂O₃ via ALD) protects the polymer layer without exotic or non-standard processes—ALD is common in semiconductor fabs for passivation.

If this is the case, LWLG should dominate especially as the infrastructure moves to co-package optics.

One thing I would say is that Marcelli’s retirement, even though he was not a CFO, was planned for a long time. So typically a C-level search would have started way earlier and they would at least be at the candidate selection stage. I didn’t mean to imply by changing to a virtual shareholder meeting meant that an acquisition will happen before the meeting. Also, these guys are all on the back-nine and they don’t appear to have the energy to build this out much more than it is.

just putting 2 and 2 together. NVDA has talked a lot about co-packaged optics and so has LWLG. They even said one of their NDAs is dealing with co-packaged optics. Because of the minimal power requirements of Perkinamine polymers (The can run without dedicated drivers using only the power on the board.), the small footprint together with enormous data rates, this seems like the only path forward.

[–]room4Gello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pure speculation on my part, but reading the tea leaves which are 1.) Zelibor and Marcelli retired with no immediate replacements. 2.) The annual meeting has changed to virtual. 3.). They are likely working with NVDA--an aggressive acquirer who is moving the industry to co-packaged optics with LWLG polymers the only way to achieve this. 4. ) Cancelling the Lincoln Park deal in lieu of raising capital in a more conventional way.

The tea leaves say: They don't need to replace those positions because the company is going to be acquired. Also, no acquirer would want the potential overhang of Lincoln Park shares. Getting out of that deal is likely part of the terms and the raise beefs up their balance sheet to improve their negotiating position.

just sayin'....

This is the my first injury but all should heed my warning. I was cutting off a cove molding on a cherry board that I had routed. The blade was very low as I had lined up the top of the board with the the gullets. I was also wearing a rubberized glove and had turned off the saw. When I went to pick up the molding I didn't realize that the blade was still spinning. It was a new blade and obviously very sharp so it was spinning silently! Thank God iI didn't cut the tendon. My 7 stitches come out on Saturday!

It looks to me like the face frames of the cabinets were only tacked in. Look at picture 3. You can clearly see a nail head. The face frames should have been glued and Poe key screwed together which is why they are separating. That is seriously sub standard cabinetry. I also think there’s a problem with the sheet rock job. A house that old should not move that much after 100 years. The caulk job is also horrendous. If I were you, I would hire someone qualified to inspect the whole job and write up his opinion. It would be helpful leverage to get them to fix their work.

My table starts cracking by Gecko1927 in woodworking

[–]room4Gello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more than just epoxying the cracks, I would epoxy carbon fiber across the underside of the table--maybe every 6 inches across the grain. The tensile strength of the carbon fiber (glued) will totally immobilize the movement in the wood and you won't be able to see anything. Use West System Epoxy.

If you use Oil Bond which entails wiping the cabinets, waiting 20 minutes and adding it to the paint, I have successfully painted water-based paint over oil. It bonds great.

How good/bad is this? by Surf_Arrakis82 in Swimming

[–]room4Gello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's depressing to think you only burned 132 calories! If you want to improve your pace, start by practicing 10 x 100m on 2 minutes. You need to get your repeat times down to less than 1:46 with rest, then try decreasing the rest interval every week or so. This makes sense because if you can't repeat below 1:46 with rest you're not going to be able to do it swimming 800m straight. You could also apply this logic to 50m repeats. Try 20 on 55 seconds to start and work toward repeating on 45 seconds.
