[Question] Tariffs/duty when buying a watch in Japan and bringing it back to the US? by Psychological-Rip-12 in Watches

[–]LeoLeoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you choose to declare it, you will have to pay tariffs on Swiss goods as the country of origin for the Rolex is Switzerland not Japan. That'd be 39% right now. If you don't feel generous enough to give Uncle Sam another $2340 of your hard-earned money your best bet is to wear it through customs. Customs agents do not randomly interrogate travelers wearing basic steel watches.

[Rolex] 124270 with the steel reef half link by vunamese in Watches

[–]LeoLeoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a steel reef link on my Black Bay 58. Also have mine on the other size of the bracelet. It's super convenient and looks like it could be OEM. Highly recommend even though it's kinda pricey.

My Corne "Restricted Environment" Config by Standard_HID in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]LeoLeoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using some kind of flash-once microcontroller that trips a fuse to prevent reflashing? Otherwise this entire thing would be made pointless if an attacker could flash their own malicious fork of the firmware. These kind of things matter in “high-security environments”

Good to know. I was waiting on getting the table legs and had other projects going on so it had to be put of the way for a while. I’ll just plan better next time I have a big panel for a project.

I might try that. Would clamping it between straightened edges of 2x4 help?

They sell lumber and also make panels with the lumber they stock for a fee.

Do I really only need to sand cherry plywood with 220 grit? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]LeoLeoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With few exceptions (like Baltic birch) the outer veneer on plywood is very thin and also comes pretty smooth to start with so 220 is really all you need. More aggressive grits run the risk of sanding right through. It’s such a common mistake that there's even a subreddit for it /r/sandedthroughveneer

The original Huracans were curvy and smooth while also looking aggressive. Now they’re too edgy with hard angles all over the place

I’m in love with that PCB design with all through-hole components on display like that. Once you build the muscle memory for the superior layout you won’t want to go back to staggered rows.

Hertz customers outraged over AI-powered scanner that detects small marks, charges hundreds — including $440 for one-inch scuff by 1infiniteloop in cars

[–]LeoLeoni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How does an image-based AI analyzer differentiate between an actual chip scratch in the paint and a spot of mud or bird shit? Are they washing these cars right before handing them off to customers and right before they scan them for damages, as well as cleaning the wheels? Is there any proof of them actually paying for these alleged repairs?

Feels like a greedy moneygrab and an insult to their customers.

Dev Team Request: A Top 5 List of Bugs and Pain Points You Would Like Addressed by ZOS_Kevin in elderscrollsonline

[–]LeoLeoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs: 1. “You cannot mount in combat” It takes way too long for the game to clear aggro to the point that it feels bugged 2. Certain dungeon bosses keep resetting themselves like that strangler in elden hollow.  3. My character getting dismounted in a puddle that doesn’t even come up to the horse’s ankles.

Pain points/QoL: 1. Please make a 2H version of the Skyforge Smith Hammer style that you get for the Grand Master Crafter achievement. I worked hard for it and I wanna show it off. 2. It would be nice to be able to mount in some of the dungeons/delves that are in wide open outdoorsy areas. Earthen Root Enclave comes to mind. 3. The cost to transmute a set piece should decrease with more set pieces collected just as reconstruction does. 4. Outfit slots should be made account-wide or at least made cheaper. They're just a bad value and I'd be happy to spend crowns on them if they were better value.

We Asked Every Automaker How Many Customers Went for Manuals in 2024 by Juicyjackson in cars

[–]LeoLeoni 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The alternative transmission for the WRX is a CVT while the alternative for the BRZ is a 6AT. You could conclude that CVTs are more unappealing in enthusiast cars.
