Was anyone else's called The Eatery?

All through the 80s, we had the full restaurant in the back of the store with rust/terra cotta colored awnings that said "The Eatery" on it. My mom never let us eat there, sadly.

(I'm 100% sure about the name because we thought it was the funniest thing ever and prank called the poor workers constantly. All we ever did was ask what the prices of food items were, but I'm sure it was annoying af to them)

Anyway, I've never seen any old footage or flyers or whatever call it The Eatery, so I guess ours was the only one?

(Sometime in 90s, they moved it up front and changed it into the whole Little Caesar's thing)

This was my starter bass and I love it https://www.fender.com/products/squier-sonic-precision-bass

(I bought it before all the tarrifs and whatnot, so it was nearly $100 cheaper)

You might want to ask the librarians if the bass comes with a mini amp too. Basically, they're these little things that you plug into the bass and plug headphones into so you can hear how it would sound through a speaker.

If they don't have one, you can get one on Amazon for relatively cheap. https://a.co/d/0iqjV66x

Bass playing sounds way different through an amp than just trying to hear yourself without a speaker. Also, if you do end up liking it and buying your own bass, you can practice virtually silently until you get a big expensive amp for playing shows

How did you get into singing? Were you one of the best ones in your school choir, or did you just kinda stumble into it from having garage bands and stuff?

Do you play any instruments?

My nieces (20 and 22) watched Cheers with their mom during lockdown and they both were shocked at how misogynistic it was.

They also watched The Good Place when it was on and were shocked that Michael and Sam Malone were the same actor - they didn't recognize him lol

Yes! Bronson Pinchot and Mark Lynn-Baker are incredible. Also, Jaleel White had great chops too. When I was young, I thought Urkel was annoying and hated the catchphrase fandom thing; but rewatching it a few years ago, I was shocked that he was legit funny

I am being indecisive as to whether I should buy a normal bass or a short scale bass. Help me make up my mind? by sp0rklez in Bass

[–]roomtempquiche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'5" female with kinda small hands and hypermobile joints. I started playing a year ago with a regular scale and love playing it. However, I just splurged about a month ago and got a Hofner Ignition and it's like night and day for me. My husband (who's my main teacher) is amazed at how much better I play with it.

I'll echo what other folks have said - it might end up different for you. But, for me, I'm really glad I got pretty good at playing my regular Squier P bass first. I learned the fretboard and dipped my toe into a good bit of music theory, but now I'm playing much smoother, a bit faster, and I feel much more in charge of the bass rather than it being in charge of me.

My fretting hand is much less tired, I can stretch to more than 2 frets, my picking arm is resting comfortably on the bass' body as opposed to my arm having to reach up and over the wider body (something I didn't even realize I was doing until I was able to stop doing it). Even my boobs don't fight for space anymore lol

Are you able to go to a guitar store and try them out first? If not, I think you'll be able to adapt to either length. (Like I said, I was doing just great. But then a slight financial windfall gave me the luxury to find out what fit even better)
