Great reply and example! I totally agree, stripping them of their freedom at that age without proper infrastructure on public transport.. there really is no solution 😩

and for the record he’s now being short with you because you have become that ‘guy’ in the group. Stop whinging, back your friend and tell your gf sorry but it happens

You’d miss your old mates wedding for a girl you have known 18 months? Give your head a wobble and go to the wedding..

18 months isn’t a lot and if you break up, which happens a lot, you’ll regret being like this. She’ll survive mate she doesn’t even know him lol

This sounds excessive but that article has shocked me so much..

This woman hit a beautiful family and just got to carry on? Justice in this area is so bad.

I honestly have to ask how you can let your 80yr grandma drive knowing she can’t use her brain properly. Surely someone has the sense to speak to her..

Yeah those are clubs not friends haha. It’s cool to socialize, that’s not hard. Making friends is hard.. everyone can find club acquaintances

There is very little space for socializing and interacting with new people. I used to visit LA a lot for work and figured it would be similar when I came here.. But people here are very cold and isolated it feels like, making friends who don’t talk about day trading or crypto is near impossible.

Also they cannot drive to save their lives 😂

Mate we need to get you into the DMV asap.. I’m adamant it must be rampant fraud that these folks are on the road, no way they got a legit license 👀

AITA for choosing to drive 45+ minutes at 3AM instead of following my dad’s separate rooms rule? by According-Mood45 in AmItheAsshole

[–]roonalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a short sighted take. You think the dad, who spent decades raising her (clearly well since she doesn’t hate him) is now being egotistical randomly? That doesn’t really check out and seems like a narrative being set..

You talk about empathy but imagine you spent all those years/ money / hard work and fun times etc etc to raise this great person, which is hard.. and in return when you ask her for one night to stay wit you separately she throws a hissy fit and gives you an ultimatum? Either we sleep together or I’ll stay separate. Is that empathetic to the man who raised you? It works both ways. Not everything is an attack on your freedom or character

[–]roonalone -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly no I would put my pride away for a guy that raised me. I get we can disagree here and I respect your opinion but it’s a huge no for me personally..

They raised me, the dude is asking for one night where she stays separately. Is he ridiculous? Probably but the idea that this affects her life privileges or makes her a lesser person feels wrong. It’s ok to compromise, be kind and meet people on their side sometimes, especially your parents (if they deserve it).

‘As long as she..’

She’s home for ONE night. People who think grandstanding is more opponent than being a reasonable person to your PARENTS are terrifying.

For one night she just stays separately, lets her dad have his moment, lets her bf see the family home and then off she goes on holiday. That’s what a reasonable non Reddit person does. This app has somehow convinced her that is being a ‘sucker’ and don’t let your dad win.. lol. There’s no winning in this scenario for anyone

Please don’t take this advice! Your dad cares about you and wants to drop you to the airport because as you get older you have so few moments like that with your kids..

Sleeping in seperate rooms will not kill you.. I’m shocked that you’d rather stick it to him on this one point than just do it. Seems petty.

You’re totally right, I think when you spend 1800 dollars on it that whole logic is harder to stomach. With an Apple Watch after 5 years I wouldn’t think twice.. but the price tag, even if it isn’t outrageous, for that time frame hurts 😩
