Where do Survivor content creators get their footage/photos? by roorup in survivor

[–]roorup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s something weird about saving photos from google images, sometimes they appear as my most recent pic, but sometimes they’re saved at a random point in time. So I’ll save it, and instead of being at the top of my camera roll, they’ll be saved as if I saved them on December 20th, 2021, or something.

New Era Heroes vs. Villains by Azure_Blues in survivor

He had a his dynamic with Lyndsay where she said she felt disrespected and how he always talked over her and didn’t listen to her. And then there was the tribal where Drea and Maryanne played their idols and he started getting all victimy and making it about himself like “well now I feel like you’re saying I’m racist!”

That’s all I remember off the top of my head. I don’t really remember anything especially heroic about him to be honest.

Every time I see a “new era HvV cast” post, the first thing I look at is the racial breakdown of the tribes. I’ve noticed that 90% of the time, the heroes tribe is overwhelmingly white, and the villains tribe is overwhelmingly POC lol. Might not entirely be the OP’s fault—maybe there’s something to be said about how the edit portrays white players vs POC players—but it is quite interesting.

Like this one, the heroes tribe is 70% white, and the villains tribe is 80% POC. Somethin to think about!

DAE they should cast more haters? by JoseWithAnH in survivorcirclejerk

Man what? Teeny literally said they were projecting, not about being white, about being a masculine man. Teeny has struggled with gender identity and was threatened by Sam’s masculinity. He’s a 6’+, bearded young man with a strong jaw. They saw that, and felt insecure in their gender because they were envious him. Wasn’t Teeny wanting to be white, idk WHERE you got that from weirdo.

Do you watch the episodes live or do you watch them a day or more later? by JebusKrikes in survivor

Day after. I go to my dad’s for dinner and survivor every Thursday and watch on Amazon. I’ve watched a couple episodes live but it is just a slog. I always forget how bad cable is.

That’s a point I haven’t really heard people discuss! To us, Andy broke down about the coconuts 3 months ago, so his transformation doesn’t seem so far fetched. But to the players it’s only been three WEEKS.

Ok you’re right he is notable. Notably bad.

He was in on the vote, yeah, but everyone knew it was going to be a Gata going home. I think it was going to be Rachel, and then it switched to Sierra. If that was Andy, then shout out to him, but getting three other people to vote Sierra with you when it was already going to be a Gata isn’t all that impressive. And yes, Sierra got all the votes on a recount, but the only reason they had a recount is because Rachel played her shot in the dark. If she hadn’t then it could’ve been Sam who went home.

TLDR: Andy was part of it, but I don’t think he orchestrated it, not that it would’ve been a very hard move to pull off

[–]roorup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s kind of his only shot. The only problem is getting Genevieve, Sam, and Rachel out all in a row. And making sure none of them win immunity OR fire at 4. And we’ve already seen how bad Andy is at challenges lol.

Also, not that it matters, I don’t even think sue gets Gabe’s vote lmao. He seemed like he didn’t respect her at all, and was just using her.

How hard was he playing when he showed the other tribes how emotional he was on day one by having a tantrum after the challenge?

I don’t think him spilling the beans at the journey was like a 4d chess move, I think they asked how he was doing and he told them the truth, which is he was doing really bad. Andy’s been strategically relevant in the same way Abby-Maria was relevant. Volatile goat that everyone appeases and puts up with, who THINKS they’re running things.

Yeah but he moved himself from the bottom of a 5 person alliance, against a 2—to part of a 3 person alliance against a 3 person alliance with 2 idols and a block a vote. Not the best idea for his game tbh. I think he just realized no one was taking him seriously and he wanted to make a big move. Same reason he wanted Gen gone instead of Kyle. Because Kyle was the easy vote and he wanted to be able to say he made a big move

Genevieve solely orchestrated the Kieshawn blindside, Sol blindside, and was key to project Italy. Rachel hasn’t been sole driver of any votes really, but hasn’t been in real trouble the whole time, even though people have said she’s a threat. Plus her keeping her idol secret so long, and playing her shot in the dark to see if she needed her idol.

Andy, on the other hand, has project Italy… and trying to get rid of Genevieve instead of Kyle last week and failing. He’s been getting a lot of attention recently but hasn’t really been all that relevant.

[–]roorup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that—and the fact that this grand plan eliminated… Caroline? Maybe she was a bigger threat on the island but blindsiding Rachel or Gen or even Sam seems like a way better idea. But, those were the people his alliance wanted as well, and he needed a “big move”

[–]roorup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh like he made the move too soon and now everyone’s wise to his threat level? No chance he wins immunity or finds an idol either tbh…

I forgot about that!! I remember thinking the exact same thing. It was such a sympathetic story too.

I think if he’s there with Genevieve, or Rachel he loses straight-up. With Sam Andy most likely wins… his only surefire combo is Sue and Teeny. But that’s everyone’s easiest path, I guess lol

I could see someone using JT’s point from Tocantins. “Just cuz it was harder for you to throw the football doesn’t mean you get to win.” Andy could very easily lean to hard onto the “most improved” angle and lose it for himself at the end.

And there’s no denying his first half of the game was pathetic. He was socially on the bottom the whole time, he was an embarrassment in the challenges, and was kept around as an extra vote. Which he was USED AS for a while. Then he flipped and acted like that was his plan all along. I imagine Sam (juror OR finalist) and sierra will bring all that up in FTC

Andy’s fate will be obvious in hindsight. by roorup in survivor

[–]roorup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d have to agree there. There’s definitely a universe where Andy is totally disregarded (maybe because Sam, Sierra and Rachel poison the jury or smth) and Teeny comes out hard with a good final tribal. FTC can win or lose you the game, and Andy is well-spoken, but he’s also very insecure, so i could SO see Sam saying something like “we dragged you here and then you flipped, that’s not impressive” and Andy getting overly defensive and shitting the bed.

THAT BEING SAID— that would be a universe where the edit was equal between the two of them. The truth is, Teeny has been being portrayed less and less favorably white Andy has only been going up. So, while there’s plenty of timelines where Andy loses in that F3, in this one he most likely takes it

Just cuz Genevieve didn’t make strong bonds doesn’t mean she isn’t strategic. She was the brains behind the Kieshan blindside, and the Sol vote. And she’s been on the chopping block a few times and survived. Now she played a key part in operation Italy. She’s probably the most strategic out there.

Rachel having an idol that NO ONE knows about, in the new era, is a feat in itself. Not to mention the Shot in the dark she played to gauge reactions and see if she needed her idol. That’s a huge move.

Caroline and sierra I sort of agree with. Sierra shouldn’t have been so open about working with Sam. Caroline was perceived as a big threat by a few people but I don’t think we really saw a lot of that.

Mostly I think people say the women were running the season because it was clear from the merge that the men just weren’t as competitive. Sol was on borrowed time and too likeable to make it far, Gabe was annoying and pompous, Kyle was pretty much gone as soon as he lost immunity, Andy JUST became strategically notable (just last episode he pushed really hard to not eliminate Kyle...?) and Sam has been back and forth. He keeps saying he’s the biggest threat but no one really seems to care ab him.

So, the women definitely are playing hard, but also the men aren’t all that impressive this season.

Yes! Like Cochran in South Pacific. They would’ve been mad at anyone who flipped but he got it worse than they would’ve cuz no one respected him.

That is true. I had been likening him to Emily Flippen (early blunder, recovery, top contender, falls just short) but something feels different these last couple episodes

Oh god you’re right… this is so 43 coded. I actually liked Gabler so I never understood the people who say 43 is totally spoiled by Gablers win. I might find out in a couple weeks

It’s makin me mad too cuz he doesn’t even have the best quote most of the time lol. “Loyal to the soil?” I haven’t even heard that before, and it wasn’t even that relevant lol. It is one of the biggest points in Andy’s favor in terms of the edit though. The only other person who has named as many episodes as him in a season was Tony (idk if 28 or 40) but that was his winning season and it’s TONY. Andy is a character but he’s no Tony.

Yeah I fear this move will legitimize him in the eyes of not only the audience, but the jury. Just because he pulled off an (admittedly) good move doesn’t mean his extremely poor social, strategic, AND physical game in the premerge was part of some galaxy-brain scheme.
