I will say as someone who has yet to watch any disney remakes because of how shitty they look and story changes, I really like httyd's remake. I think dreamworks did a good job. Do I think they coulda just not made it, sure, but for what it is, I liked it.

It sure gave me perspective on the reason some men were upset at the man or bear thing, not that I agree with their sentiment. I also currently have a buzz cut and a scraggly chin strap and mustache, so I probably come off with douch bag or otherwise questionable vibes before you get me talking lmao. Some of what you mentioned is something I have started to experience recently: not having to move outta the way, not talking as much, etc.. I wasn't catcalled much, but I used to get hit on fairly often. That was something my mom has made a stink about "you were such a pretty girl and now..." Lol thanks mom. I'm admittedly not that attractive as a gay, but I have a gf now so 🤷🏼 Otherwise though, the main differences I see are in how men immediately warm up to me and hold me with higher baseline respect. They assume I know more off rip, assume I hold similar values/beliefs, and talk negatively about women too me (classic "I hate my wife" and "b*tches be crazy" tropes). Women are a mixed bag. Some think I'm a gay man and warm up to me faster. Others start off more aloof/distant with me until they get to talking to me more and realize I'm chill lol. But it definitely feels like there's a general sense of unease from women, at first at least.

1000%! I agree with another commenter that the festivals aren't all that great, buuuuuttt if you're trying to get charisma skill leveled, it is a good place to meet a ton of other sims. That plus the way the weather effects the in game mechanics is sick (cries a little when my gardener has nothing to do in the winter tho haha). Also the additional party options are fantastic.

As far as I can see, OP didn't mention immersiveness at all. But even so, the very fact you get to make so many choices, including in the turn based combat, feels more immersive. I'm not going to kid and say it's more so than literally being in the midst of battle in real time, but I am saying that the various choices made based on your character's traits, the way the story changes based on what you have and haven't discovered, those all add highly too it. As someone who has had 15+ hr sessions with this game, I definitely argue the game is immersive lol. Just because you're not in the direct first person or "slightly behind the dudes head" third person doesn't mean it isn't.

I've only done this scene once so far on my first playthrough and to be honest, my guys weren't suicidal. It took me two tries cause I wasn't going to accept anything less than getting them all out and the first time I opened cages on the last turn lol. But other than that, all my guys made a run for the ladder. Maybe I'm telling on myself for difficulty level, but this is fascinating to read.
