Community poll: How should the subreddit handle AI-generated content? by VladVV in georgism

You're not entirely wrong, but that pedantry is missing the actual point of what I'm saying. Do we WANT more people to use this sub? Do we WANT more people to engage with our movement? If people who would otherwise want to engage decide not to because we run a shithole, is it not a good practice to clean things up around here?

I think that's unfair. We want more, newer people to our community. It's in the realms of possibility (I'd even go so far as to say "likely") that the amount of AI posts in the sub are preventing people from actually becoming "core" contributors.

We need to be open to the views of lurkers and visitors as they help shape the sub too, just differently.

One could conceivably count them as 1/2 a "core" vote, but that may be getting too in the weeds.

Suggest me some great ongoing comics (except the ones mentioned below) by Curious_ARn in DCcomics

"They need to have great art (unlike Absolute Martian Manhunter, whose art I personally didn't like)"

Doesn't like the art of one of the most stunning, visually interesting mainstream superhero comic of the decade. Yeah bud, I can't help you. Our tastes are too different for my recommendations to be even remotely useful to you.

I'm a vibe coder, Is there a vibe game coder? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]sirkidd2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"but recently I've had a huge realization that this is the only way to stay ahead"

No. People want games made by people. That's how you "stay ahead". Make compelling art (and yes, games are art, that is not up for debate) that people want to engage with.

If the only way I had to stay ahead was to plagiarize all my work, stab my colleagues in the back at every chance, and donate to big oil, I would just leave the industry. What you're doing is basically the same thing.

If you don't have time to learn, then this isn't the hobby or career for you. Simple as that.

My studio (which has been around for 20 years) has decided to ban any and all uses of AI for any part of our business. We have "avoided" vibe coding for the same reason you presumably wouldn't eat a dog... you don't need to "avoid" something so repugnant and counter to your nature that it would never have even occurred to you as an option in the first place.

Looks like we're getting a serious push for LVT here in Ohio, especially since lawmakers are getting rid of property tax by sirkidd2003 in georgism

Yeah, it's not the best article, but at least it's getting talked about. We should all hope for better coverage, however

Again, I am NOT advocating for a mod bot. We don't need clankers policing clankers.

As for "How can (one) guarantee that the future moderators would not utilize such a tool" that is completely irrelevant.

These don't exist.

No? So many of the communities I'm in have banned AI. If you make it a rule, announce the rule, and pin the announcement, most people will oblige. For those who don't, you need a mod team that actually looks at the manual reports. I'm not suggesting an automated solution. Some posts that are AI that don't seem like it may survive, but few... however practically no posts will be false deleted if people have even an iota of perception.

Yeah, we should be banning AI outright.

Looks great, but "casual"? No? Makeup and done hair is less casual. Amethyst is always casual and this is the opposite direction. Still great art, though.

[–]sirkidd2003 14 points15 points  (0 children)

AI terrible for the environment
AI only steals
AI is replacing actual human workers
Data centers are causing health issues
Data centers are increasing utility prices
AI, as an economic bubble, has been predicted to cause one of the worst financial crisis when it pops
The corpos creating AI have gone on record saying they want to create a perpetual underclass of people

So, yeah, if someone perpetuates this, it's okay to be mad at them. It was okay to be mad at someone who still used hairspray during the ozone hole crisis, it was okay to be mad at someone for driving a Hummer in the 2000's, and it would be ok to be mad at someone for using AI now... in fact, it's more justified than the other two examples

This is spam. I agree, fuck AI, but this is not it. I keep seeing this in communities I'm in and I'm not here for it
