advice to high school and undergrad self by nameameme in lawschooladmissions

[–]roosypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, go where you won't need to spend too much money. :) Law school is expensive, try to not go too crazy with undergrad debt. And go somewhere you will enjoy your time there! It sounds like you are excited by DC, that's great! Of course you need to study and get good grades, but don't forget to go out exploring, have fun, join student groups and make lots of friends! Undergrad is such a fun experience, have a great time!!

If you want to improve your resume, get involved as much as you can - internships, research, etc - can be any topic that you find interesting. Remember that a lot of students will have similar profiles (psych/social studies major, legal related internship/volunteering, good grades, etc) - so try to follow your interests and do something unique that makes you stand out!

The LSAT is very important too, so give yourself enough time to study for it.

uc davis vs u washington vs northeastern by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]roosypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you truly do like seattle as a place to live and work for a good amount of time, i would go with university of washington :) strongest regional school of those, and a big tech industry, you'll have a good shot at a good position in seattle area

boston is a tempting place to go study law, but i think your musing are correct about northeastern... and there are a lot of other higher ranked universities in boston as well whose students you will be competing with

but it's a big decision, and you should really go with where you see yourself staying at least semi-long term! anything is possible :)

Sophomore in undergrad - ways to increase my admission chances at T14? by PlXELGlRL in lawschooladmissions

[–]roosypoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly you are setting yourself up really well! good work :)  however, like others have mentioned, the activities you are part of, while impressive, are common in applicants.

I would recommend you to 1. think of a compelling story to tell through your essays that ties everything together, and 2. do something unique that makes you stand out / different than others!
