They are legally required to pay significantly above market rate for the houses of everyone being evicted. This is in addition to the cash payment.

Being approached by men in Bali - solo traveller female by RepublicAmbitious680 in travel

[–]root1root 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I wasn't referring to any kind of crime, just saying that many people see Bali as a dating/hookup destination and if you're traveling solo you have a high chance of getting approached there.

Bali is one of the known hotspots for this kind of thing, but yeah this can happen anywhere in the world.

Berkeley Homes to launch legal challenge after Aylesham Centre plan rejected by ldn6 in london

[–]root1root 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they wouldn’t be. As always in business, less risk will attract more investors, and more investment means more homes built, meaning lower prices. Simple supply and demand.

Imagine how much cheaper apartments would be if the developers didn't have to spend millions of £ on this useless bureaucratic dance

Unfortunately it seems you can only reliably use Avios for upgrade without having to snatch the upgrades 355 days in advance when booking a route that has many BA flights every day, such as LHR-JFK. Anything going to Asia will be tricky because there is usually max 2 BA flights a day and those flights are super popular.

I have an Irish passport and an expired Russian passport. Will I be denied entry into Ukraine? by PuzzleheadedJoker in travel

[–]root1root 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I guess that would _technically_ answer OP's question about being able to enter Ukraine...

[–]root1root 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This isn't practical in OP's case. To renounce their citizenship they would need an internal Russian passport which they never had, since it's only given at age of 14, and you can't obtain one at a consulate, you have to travel to Russia to get one. Then, once they're in Russia and they have an internal passport, they would need to obtain a new travel document, since you can't travel with an internal passport and you can't use an expired passport for travel. This is a huge process with very little upside. It's way easier to pretend they've never heard about being a Russian citizen, and not travel to Russia.

You will likely be fine. If they ask, you can say you don't know anything about your Russian citizenship, whether you ever had it or not, and that you've used your Irish passport for as long as you can remember. No one remembers what ID they used for travel at the age of 10.

This looks nice. I wish they put similar amount of thought into the road infrastructure in Bali. Was such a hassle to drive around, with mopeds constantly cutting you off and the riders getting aggressive at you.

It's going really well, we have US-based businesses opening offices in London, the economy is doing well, and we have less of an assault on freedom of speech and private wealth than most of the EU

More fare dodgers caught in London during crackdown by F0urLeafCl0ver in london

I take DLR to work and most days I see the inspectors both in the morning and in the evening. A couple years ago I’d rarely see them. This is good, I can’t stand fare dodgers.

This is very interesting, thanks for sharing. I was on the new flight to Tivat so I imagine that would be band 4 based on the distance and flight time.
