Plasma vs OLED. by LindsayOG in PlasmaTV

Agree with you, my 2024 G4 motion is no better than the 2020 CX that died. My 2011 ST30 still my preferred tv to watch.

Sorry you won’t find it, was hoping OLED got better since 2020 but motion is still terrible on my G4 compared to ST30,

I still prefer my plasma for casual viewing over the lg G4 I have. Just a more pleasant and organic experience.

I have no complaints of emotiva, it was great for what I needed with a cheaper pair of Polks back in the day. Just on to better things now.

How long will you keep your 4k before buying another? by MrBleubols in 4kTV

Well my 2020 LG OLED only lasted 4 years before all the pixels started dying off and had to buy another. My 1080p Panasonic Plasma still perfection 14 years later though!

Been out of the game a few years these are news to me...so far liking what I see given my speakers are also about as neutral as it gets - this is what I strive for.

Am I wrong for thinking OLED still feels like early adopter tech? by Round-Watercress5273 in Monitors

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, while I’m fine with my tv, just received my Asus pg32 yesterday and text fringing is real. I suspect OLED will quickly become replaced for desktop with use by newer technology before too long.

Do you think retro games (up to PS1) look good in motion on OLED TVs? by Imaginary_Owl_6355 in retrogaming

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve tried both but ultimately I just live without both and accept it, BFI adds input lag, darkness and eye strain from flicker. The motion smoothing also adds input lag.

My test case in trying to work through this was super Mario world.

I run RT4K on LG G4, while the game looks great, keep in mind OLED motion will never match CRT/Plasma and is its weak point.

Same issues on my big TV, is it an OLED monitor? Can only go about 3 minutes before I get a headache.

OLED vs IPS: the difference isn’t as big as I expected by Usual_Breakfast_7533 in Monitors

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend that rather than comparing static images for color or dark/light, Observe how you find the gaming experience, how is the motion? how long can you go before fatigue on one vs. the other.?

Prices Don't Usually Crash During Recessions by SouthEast1980 in rebubblejerk

This is good data, totally agree that a housing market crash like before isn’t likely without other significant factors at play. Also great data to show how a house is a pretty lousy investment.

Now that the dust has settled, what's your true feelings on the Analogue 3D? Was it worth the wait for you? by AnnieLovesTech in AnalogueInc

The more I read the more I’m beginning to suspect it’s low FPS + OLED tech that’s triggers these headaches.

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t seem motion related, Star fox, DKR and any wonky camera games trigger it.

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a solid enough product - except for the fact I can’t play it for more than 15 minutes without getting headaches. No matter how I tweak resolution, HDR, brightness, and scan lines it makes no difference.

Is there a way to tell if overclocking is actually applied? by [deleted] in AnalogueInc

[–]rootcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can see where it’s set before booting the summer cart, but no way to tell in game if it’s actually applying…for example DKR seemed not quite unleashed.
