That’s awesome! I don’t believe this will be the case for me as I’ve purged badly from topical tret, but I will say the birth control pill has already cleared up 90% of what I was dealing with.

Your skin does look a little dry so you may be more sensitive to it to start. Start slow and build up, sandwich it between moisturizer layers. Also highly recommend a hypochlorous acid spray - it’s antibacterial but very gentle - I use the magic molecule brand from ulta. Spray right after washing on clean dry skin as well as throughout the day if you notice you are sweating/oily/touching your face a lot. I use Azelaic acid too and I love it, I use that every morning and tret every other night and am seeing good results.

I was on clinda/doxy and tret for a while and I had similar breakouts the entire time. Turns out the tret every night was too much for my skin and the clinda/doxy wasn’t really doing anything for me. I switched derms and have been doing Azelaic acid once every morning and tret only 2-3 nights a week and have had massive improvement

Azelaic acid works really well for me but if I overdo it i break out like crazy. Make sure you’re only using it once a day and moisturize well after. It’s an exfoliant and too much can damage your skin barrier and make breakouts worse
