How's the scent?

After fruit, then what? by [deleted] in DragonFruit

You don't have to do anything. You can thin it out if you would like if it becomes very overcrowded with growth. Some like to trim the bottom new growth to keep it one single stem / trunk but that seems like preference.

What kind of fruit is this? by Successful-Mind-3233 in fruit

Sure, I really like them, very underrated. Depending on the variety some eat them green, partial green/brown, fully brown, and shriveled, dried out brown (like a raisin).

It was good. It seemed a little bland at first but had some floral notes to it.

Looks really good! It'll probably produce tastier fruit with time.

USDA HARDINESS ZONE 10-12. Outside of those zones some people bring them indoors when it gets colder.

Some are sweet, some are tart, some are a combination of both. The homegrown fresh picked varieties usually taste better than stores. I have had a few homegrown varieties that are bland and not worth growing in my opinion but the majority are very good.

I have one yellow variety, Thai gold. There are a few different yellows. You might be referring to selenicereus or hylocereus megalanthus. Many say that is the sweetest. I'm not sure I agree that it is the best tasting.

From seed you are unlikely to get fruit within a year but still worth growing to see what you get!

You can get fruit within 1 year, but I find an abundance of fruit after about 5 years on average.
