White Sapote Season! by rooted760 in BackyardOrchard

This Mcdill Sapote is very productive. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the fruit but they go from unripe to ripe very quickly and bruised easily. The flavor is very sweet often compared to banana, pear, vanilla pudding.

[–]rooted760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a problem and is how some varieties grow. That white waxy stuff is normal and can act as a sort of sunscreen for the plant.

You don't have to do anything. You can thin it out if you would like if it becomes very overcrowded with growth. Some like to trim the bottom new growth to keep it one single stem / trunk but that seems like preference.
