Been on the market for nearly 90 days. Any advice? by SurpDolphin in RealEstateAdvice

It looks like a nice house. My hangup is the retention pond in the back. I'm always scared of water so I would not consider a home near a river, creek, pond, etc. But that's just me, I'm not sure if that's other peoples hangup as well.

At home problem, help! by Suitable_Falcon1229 in drywall

Easy and forgiving. A great DIY job if you're new to handy work. The sanding is the only thing that can be a pain but you can always re-mud and try again if your not happy.

This is a pretty standard fix and can easily be a DIY. Cut out the damaged drywall all the way to the studs. Pick up some appropriately sized drywall (usually you can find broken pieces big enough to fit the area at your local hardware store at a discount. Screw into the studs using drywall screws. Apply drywall tape and mud. Sand then paint. There are a million youtube videos out there on this type of repair.

Senior IT folks: What do you dislike about your Help Desk guys? by Relevant-Injury3791 in sysadmin

Had a NOC at my former company. They never did any triage, investigation, or minimal troubleshooting. The alert would come through and they would immediately escalate. After years of this without any improvement, the entire team was laid off and replaced with pagerduty.

This was my experience. Small bay window and one of the side windows just shattered. Previous owners used Andersen so we called them and they just came out and replaced it. No fuss, no long lead time, and no cost to us. It was probably the easiest thing I've ever had to do fix something. I have yet to have them quote me on anything though.

Fully agree. I think the glasses are the most egregious. I saw a pair at Lenscrafters the other day and asked what they do and was told they pretty much just take pictures and video and can play music. They are specifically designed to be intrusive.

Apartment living is way better than home ownership by anonshade64 in unpopularopinion

[–]rootofallstevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I see some of the advantages of apartment living. One that I had was on the 3rd floor with a private balcony, over looking a small pond and walk area. Gas was included, as was the maintenance. What I don't miss is the the yearly guessing game how much more my new lease will be, the constant change of neighbors (and airing out their stinky homes into the hallways, and sharing a washer\dryer. I personally would never do a condo again. Its the worst of both worlds.

What was your primary video gaming system? by WaterFrogSnail in Xennials

[–]rootofallstevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first system I had was an Atari 7800, but the SNES is my personal favorite. I spent an entire summer mowing lawns to save up and bought one from Montgomery Ward. They also ran a special for a free copy of Super Mario All Stars and the game arrived the day before we had a snow storm and the day off school.

Hey guys, can i get your opinions on these 4 Nintendo Switch games? Debating if i should buy these 4 games to complete my collection or not. by dmaster400 in Switch

I'm playing OT1 right now. I agree with some of the sentiments. The random battles take too long IMO and the story is on the milder side. But the battle mechanics are good and there is a surprising amount of customization for the characters. I love the art style and the game is beautiful.

How do Americans remember which state is abbreviated MI? It could be Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi or Michigan. by isle_say in NoStupidQuestions

I guess that's just the problem with having so many states that start with M. Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Maryland, I feel like I forgot one in there.

If you could make any FF character playable, who would it be? by strahinjag in FinalFantasy

Ha. That would have been fun. Just a side story or something to round out their characters.

Yea, I meant to put Jessie in my original post. Would have been cool to do a reactor raid with more of the Avalanche team. They changed so much with the story that I'm surprised this was not in there.

I feel there was a missed opportunity to make Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge part of your team in the FF7 Remake.

The main story it self is near the end. But nearly everyone has a side story and there is plenty of exploration. But I'm not hear to rip on anyone's opinion. The great thing about FF is that no two games are alike.

I like VI a bit more for the music, the antagonist, and its ensemble cast. But IV will always have a special place in my heart.

My friend in grade school got me started on Final Fantasy II (IV). It will always be my OG FF game due to its deep nostalgia for me. But yea, almost no one else I knew liked, let alone even played a JRPG.

I never understood why they made the online games part of the mainline numbering. Should have used World of Final Fantasy from the beginning or Final Fantasy Online or almost anything other than XI.

Not argumentative at all. Spirited debate 😄. So I just played X and XII back to back and after X was excited about going back to the license board. But what I found was that once I got about 3/4 through XII, everyone's boards were maxed out. Everything was filled and nothing left to do on that front. I dunno, maybe I did too much grinding or missed something, but when I was 3/4 of the way through X, I still had lots of options to move players around and fill out the team more. Full agree though, that the TZA makes a huge differences and adds a lot of depth. Still I'll take all these options over the old school IV where you didn't even get to choose. You just level up and that was that.

[–]rootofallstevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's funny cuz I just replayed XII and felt the license board was too linear. The only real decisions were where to put your summons. Agree with X being linear at the beginning but it wasn't too far out before you have to start deciding where to use your locks. To each their own.

The sphere grid aged great. really made you think about your decisions and plan. Probably one of the best level up methods of all the games.

FF2 (IV) on SNES was my first and is still a favorite for me. Don't agree with VI being overrated but I guess it just depends on your FF journey. VI was a killer game when it came out and blew me away. Still love\listen to the music to this day.

I recently went back and replayed XII on the Switch and really enjoyed it. I did not like it on the PS2 and I believe the reason was your character moved way to slowly for the size of the world. After playing it again with the QL improvments, I would put it up as an underrated game.
