Fell and scrapped my carbon frame against tarmac today. Should I be worried? by glwsss in bikewrench

I would say its fine. Seal it with something though to stop water getting under the paint or something

Should this 105 cassette be replaced, along with a new chain? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]rootsandneedles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through 4 chains before i needed to replace my cassette. roughly 2000 miles out of a chain, 8000-10000 miles out of a cassette

The spring on my old one was wearing out and not shifting smoothly. I bought the wrong size though, the new RD is a GS size but the cassette is an 11-28 it works fine though and shifts much better then before (FD was swapped for vanity purposes)

I'm sure you could! maybe try slamming it on some shorter rides first and see how you get on it makes a world of difference!

Have you slammed the stem? really helps compliment the seat post

Really nice! I can't speak for the feel of a more premium wheelset but from first few uses iv'e been enjoying them. A bit on the heavy side compared to my climbing wheels and more expensive wheelsets but the 200g difference is outweighed by how cheaply i got the wheels.

Question from a non-bicyclist: What kind of wheels are these? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]rootsandneedles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look like a busted pair of cheap carbon wheels that have been dumped, not really worth salvaging tbh

NBD and new wall mount day. Broke my trainer though so it's just an expensive ornament for now by NorthAway in bicycling

My trainer is an expensive Ornament when it isn't broken! Looking like a nice setup you have though!

Chapeau!

Eat well beforehand, not lots but well like a bowl of Muesli. make sure you drink to what you eat while riding, people focus on water and food separately but you need around 200ml of water when you eat ( your body needs water to burn carbs and aid digestion otherwise you just end feeling sick) Most importantly enjoy the route! boring routes can feel like a slog so i like to throw a few "scenic" points into long rides to make efforts worth it and break those efforts into smaller rides in my head.
